Oh, this! I read this years ago and once I fell back into an FMA phase, I remembered again. You have no idea how long I've been looking for this. Thank you for posting it. I really enjoyed - all of this, even if it stays unfinished. The frankness of Lingfan's feelings conversation, the way the sandstorm was described [that was actually one of the things that led to me finding this fic again, the sandstorm and how vividly it was described] - I loved it. 3

This chapter had me rolling. I love it! You've captured their personalities so well!

You might never see this, but I wanted to leave a comment anyway because your story has been such an enjoyable read.

The Xing trio's dynamic in this is great; three vastly different personalities and you make them mesh so well. Mei being - not hostile, but not super friendly either with Ling and Lan Fan was great and made a lot of sense considering she's only just come to terms that she can trust them at the very end of the series. There's a burgeoning sense of camaraderie there between her and the Yao clan pair. I also like that you kept Mei's sassiness - that same audacity she showed when she met Lan Fan in Dr. Knox's house, only now it's got more of a playful edge to it.

I love that you display a more playful side of Lan Fan through childhood references and interactions with Ling. She's still got her solemn demeanor as Ling's devoted guard, but she's not a robot. The childhood familiarity they share adds a nice wrinkle to their lord-retainer relationship.

Ling is my favourite and you did such a great job balancing his lighthearted personality with his more serious beliefs and motivations. He's so multifaceted and each aspect of him shone through in your writing; he's the goofball complaining to the camels (Ling vs. the camels is my favourite feud, by the way) and the kid who viciously defends a dumpling with his life, but he's also shrewd and extremely protective and caring towards the people close to him. The scene where he pins Lan Fan down so Mei can heal her arm with the Philosopher's stone always gets me. It was so in-character, right down to the calm, cruel tone of his voice serving as a stark contrast to his kind motivations.

Also, I appreciate the confession scene. It wasn't sappy or melodramatic, but genuine and felt true to their characters.

So, this might never get continued but regardless, what I have read is fantastic.

Man, this is a good story. Truly a pleasure to read every time. And, if you ever came back to it, I know I'd love to read more.

I absolutely adore your writing but a few things bugged me. 1. Ling ever being too afraid of helping Lan Fan "because of how she'll react" 2. Mei and Lan Fan disrespecting each other when they shared blood wounds back in Amestris 3. Greed (the character) non- existent in Ling. They've become too OOC in what I thought was a continuation, so I'm stopping here. I do like your writing and I hope you continue with it.

This story is so wonderful - I really love the voices you have for all of the characters, and the line between openness and constraint that you walk so beautifully well. The way you describe the desert and the little, practical details of journeying back to Xing make everything truly feel like a different world, with all these fantastic world building details. This is just wonderful, all of it. 3

You haven't updated in forever but I just wanted you to know that this story was amazing. I think you captured their characters perfectly and I have a soft spot for Talib. Thank you for gifting the lingfan fandom with such incredible talent.

You haven't updated in... such a long time... is this story abandoned? Or are you on a hiatus or something? If you aren't, then the least you could do was inform your readers about it...
But if this story's not abandoned, I hope I can read more of this! It's really great. :)

OOOOOHHHH... Ling's so straightforward. He's probably cursing his hormones by now.

I love how you describe their relationship. You never stray too far from master/servant, but somehow you end up in the lovers relationship. I don't know how you do that, but it's awesome.

The way you describe the desert, and the hotness, and the sandiness, (I know it's not a word) is so realistic I can almost feel it through my wildest imagination (and my bones). But I guess it's so typical here already because my country's one of the hottest around. (Go Philippines!) And it didn't help when you described every inch of that hellhole, thank you very much.

I really loved the part where they got caught by a sandstorm and Lan Fan's automail got burnt and Ling's all like: "Use as much of the Philosopher's Stone as you need, damn it!" It makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. It's my favorite chapter along with this one. I love all the feels!

I like ALL the scenes with Ling in them. Lan Fan's awkward moments are also good (I wonder how she catches all that meat!) Mei's like, meehh... I never really liked her. Even her panda's so goddamn annoying. I hope Li kills her, but of course that's not gonna happen. (don't hate me Mei fans!)

Update soon! I WANNA SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Maybe at some point in the story, make Lan Fan injured or something and Ling's gonna be so desperate because he doesn't know how to heal and stuff. Super angsty! I would love it if you would do that. And please don't abandon this or I'll personally send the sandstorm after you. And this time, there will be no Philosopher's Stones around... MWAHAHAHHAHA!
