UnpredictablyRandomOne chapter 1 . 7/19/2014 I recently watched the pilot somewhere online and I just fell in love all over again. Oh, how I miss this show! It's such a pity they didn't release Chaos on dvd for fans like me. Anywho, I loved this story! I love Michael, Casey and Billy but Rick definitely has a special (very special) place in my heart. You managed to capture each character exactly like I remember them from the show and for that I thank you. Michael's leadership, Casey's human weaponry (?) and Billy's charming personality. Of course, we can't forget the way Rick is still such a new guy and the way he sees everything with extreme caution. Oh, how I've missed them. I'm pretty sure I said that already but it's because it's true. There are so many things I want to point out but I seriously can't take the time to do so because I want to go and read the next story already. All in all this was a great read and I will try and review each story, each chapter and let you know just how much I loved it! And just putting this out there...I love Rick whump. Now, to the next! |
SophieSaulie chapter 1 . 7/1/2011 Loved this story. I loved the different POVs of each of the team as they lose oxygen in the vault. You gain great insight into each of them. It's a complete delight! Of course I love Billy's POVs, understanding Michael's at the end was really great! He reveals his deep commitment and love for each of them and how he works to make sure they survive every situation in a way to "repay" them for their belief in him and his scenarios! Love it! Rick doesn't wait to listen. He's waited long enough and he's played by the rules all his life. The ODS, this mission, this team has changed him in this: he knows now that some risks are worth taking. Not because they're safe or guaranteed to pan out, but because they just are. - love it! Really, this is something Rick has come to expect. Michael always has a plan, sometimes sanctioned, sometimes not, and while they're always good causes, Billy and Casey never seem to greet such plans with anything less than anticipation. It's impossible to tell for sure if this is merely because they truly enjoy enacting justice around the globe or if their years as a team has built such an implicit trust that they actually never second guess Michael's tactical prowess. - such an unspoken level of trust expressed and realized by Rick here! That's disconcerting for Rick, and he thinks that's why he always pauses. Why he never trusts a mission completely. Why he always wants more information before he takes a chance. Because Rick likes risks, but only when they're calculated. He's spent his life measuring and weighing costs and benefits, tailoring the bottom line so he comes out ahead. Now he's being asked to jump headlong into the unknown with no regard for anything except the abstract greater good. He's betting his life and his career on a wing and a prayer half the time, and Rick really does have to come to terms with that. -great thought process here. "But nothing," Michael says. "We went into the desert to free one man. We travelled in and out of North Korea to save a diplomat's wife. We infiltrated a Russian arm's dealer's inner circle. These were all risks. Most people probably wouldn't have survived. Your first day on the job, we threw you into a car with a Russian operative and almost got you killed. We never pretended this job was without risk." It's honest and definitive and completely without apology. "But they're risks we can handle," Casey tells him. Billy inclines his head. "And they're risks that are most certainly worth it." -great analysis by the team! I love Billy's last word. It's SO Billy. "Are you hit?" he asks, and his voice is hard to hear over the barrage just beyond the door. Rick shakes his head and blinks. "Good," he says, reaching down and hauling Rick to his feet with one hand. Behind them, the door opens, just long enough for Casey and Billy to come crashing through. "Then it's time to run." - LOVE the rescue here! "A right smart deduction," Billy says with what sounds like genuine pride. -hahaha! I can so hear Billy's voice. "It's fairly easy to be motivated through the pain when there's the risk of catching a few more bullets," Billy says, as nonchalantly as he can while he heaves a breath. He shrugs one shoulder and somehow manages to look dashing even when he's pale and sweaty. "Three in the leg is a vast improvement over one through the chest." It's such a bald face lie that part of Rick wants to continue gaping. But Billy's so resolute, so sure, so reassuring, that Rick ultimately doesn't have the heart. He wishes he knew how Billy did it; how Billy can lie with unparalleled tenacity, how he can make people want to believe him against their better judgment. It makes Rick envious for a moment, until he remembers that Billy is bleeding on the floor of a sealed vault, away from medical intervention and painkillers. -you know how much I loved this! "You're thinking too much," Billy says to him finally. He has moving from his slouched position, and his face is paler, but his disposition is still sunny, even though his voice is weaker. "For me," Billy interjects conversationally, "I simply find it's more pleasant to dwell on the happier things. If I die, I don't want my last thought to be something unbearably miserable." "Right you are, my friend," Billy says, grinning widely. "And it's about time you stopped calculating the odds and just joined us in our joyous insanity." - I love how you're portraying Billy throughout! Billy nods, somewhat solemnly. "In my long list of storied accomplishments, that little fact does stand out like a sore thumb. Rather like Casey in proper society." "For your team," Billy implores. "We're bleeding for you, man. Have a heart and take a risk with your emotions." -hahahaha! "Sometimes living is the problem, though," Billy offers. When Rick looks at him, the Scotsman looks weaker than before, a pale shadow of a smile on his face. He's fading, almost right before Rick's bleary eyes. - sigh! *smiles "Simple," he says. "I wanted to make sure I saw all of you get out of this alive. Mission accomplished. What about you, Martinez?" -you've painted such a wonderful portrait of Michael on this! I loved every revelation. But he's never had a team like this before, either. A team to back him up, a team to support him. A team to keep him on the right path even when he doesn't know which way is up or down. No matter what mistakes he makes, his team will be there. This is his bedrock, he thinks. - Wonderful! Great story and totally feeds my hurt/comfort quotient. |
Ashti chapter 1 . 6/30/2011 I've only seen four episodes of this show, but I have to admit that, for all it's lack of 'proper' procedure and sometimes inadvisable actions, I'm enjoying it as well! *highfives* I understand that there's at least 10 (possibly more) so I've got some catching up to do, but this is good fic that just makes me want to read and watch it more. Good work. :) |
LaylaBinx chapter 1 . 6/21/2011 Can I just say I love you? Lol, okay that sounded creepy but I loovee this fandom and seeing you write stories for it makes me all warm and fan girlish inside p |
Serenity Starke chapter 1 . 6/7/2011 This was fantastic! I loved every bit of it. This reads like an episode. You have their quirkiness down just right and you kept them all true to character. This is a hard group to write and you did an outstanding job. I hope you do more! |
SGFlutegirl chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 I really love this! I love Chaos, and the fact that you've written a fic for it totally made my day! You rock! |
PoeticallyIncorrect1 chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 Not a bad story although a little to long to post in one chapter. Next long story I'd advise breaking it up a bit. I'm so wanting to do a crossover with it and Covert Affairs. Just need to figure out how to bring in both versions of the CIA. Looking forward to more. Mary |
Hawk50 chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 First of all, thanks for writing this. I don't think there are too many of us out there who even know Chaos exists; let alone watch it. Call me shallow, but I watch for Eric Close. I know his character is not as interesting as the others (which makes me incredibly sad), but I still adore the man. I also love Billy and Casey. I'm slow coming on board with Rick. Not sure why, but he's a little too puppy-eager, straight-shooter for me. And, sorry, I fail to see why he's a romantic lead. Now, Casey as the one who gets the girls is amusing in a strange sort of way. Despite my misgivings on the show, you did a wonderful job of characterization here - I could just hear BIlly's brogue and Casey's somewhat nasal delivery. Really enjoyed the banter and Rick's misgivings over the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this. |
Chikidee chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 Really enjoyed this story! You should definitely write more for this fandom, you have the characterizations down-pat. Great Job! |
Kaylin Tesla chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 This was really good. |
AZGirl chapter 1 . 6/6/2011 I enjoyed reading this! Good characterizations and plot... I can see this being an episode! And without you writing it, I wouldn't have known more episodes had aired that I can watch! Thanks! |
