I doubt Ed regained much sanity after the transmutation (Nina didn't) and his body is permanently disfigured. But for Al, his mind was the one thing he had after he lost his body, so he ONLY has the broken mind left. It's hard to say which one has it worse, honestly.
Strangely enough, I can believe Al killing Tucker in his rage. We know that Ed was dangerously close to doing so when it was "just" Nina. If it was Al, I doubt he'd stop.
Tragic, but creative and brilliant story.

I suppose it's a nod to your writing skills that you can induce such horror and emotion in me from this short piece, but. Just. Wow. And...I'll be looking forward to more pieces that contain such tragedy in them, since they're written so well... O.o
