This was so beautifully bittersweet. I could just picture Germany gaziing, melancholy, out the window at Japan and Italy, wishing that it was he Italy smiled that way at... Made all the more touching by the alter-reality aspect, as that's exactly what Italy does in canon-Hetalia :D

I could feel the pangs of hurt in my heart along with Germany, which just shows how well you captured it. Thank you for writing this, and for making me all the more thankful for the closeness Germany and Italy still share in the anime/manga/webcomic :) It's also not as often to find a Germany-sided fic as it is to find an Italy-sided one in terms of pairing, so that was wonderful to see too, and was so interesting to read .

Makes me wonder whom France is speaking of though, when he mentions being in denial and knowing how Germany feels... :)
