Guest chapter 7 . 12/16/2015 Awwww I need Leyton to get it together FAST. I love this story because it's honest and true, a lot can happen in 16 years even to the best couples. And marriage is a lot of work, so I'm really glad Luke is willing to work and fight for his marriage. Update soon please & thanks |
br0kenbranch chapter 7 . 2/26/2012 I don't know if I have said this already but I really love this story. I recently reread the whole thing and I just fell in love with it all over again. There isn't one thing I don't like about this story. This story has a very unique storyline, and that is why I would really love to see this story finished, because even though there is so much angst in this story I just know this can all be resolved. I've been thinking about writing a review for weeks now and I want to write something inspiring, something that will get you back to writing, so I started reading other people's reviews and I actually got frustrated by the reviews, but they also made me want to write an even better review for you because that is what you deserve and it is what this story deserves. As I said this before, this story has a very unique storyline, and the reason why the others are so on edge is because no one has ever done this before. SO as readers we have no idea what to expect, and we have to let go of the image we have (and want to have) of Lucas and Peyton in the future and let you present us with a different future. Of course I want to see Lucas, Peyton and Sawyer happy, but it doesn't always happen like that, life gets in the way, and you are showing what could have been if only... that is a very daring thing to do, and that is why I respect you so much as a writer. You dare to write things that are different. (btw that is something my writing instructor always said to me : "dare to write, don't think about your audience. Tell the story you want to tell, in the way you want to tell it. You have to stay true to yourself. It's much easier to write like everyone else writes, or what everyone wants you to write, the real challenge is to dare to write. I thought it was appropriate in this context, so I'm passing his advice on to you)I don't know if you were around in fanfic world when she was writing but Gigi18 also dared to write. She had the guts to make Peyton or Lucas into people who we can hate, then show the readers the humanity in the characters and make us fall in love with the characters for different reasons than before. She, furthermore, dared to kill off the main characters, or not have Lucas and Peyton find their way back to each other, just like in real life. I have the utmost respect for that, because she knew what the audience wanted to read, and yet she wrote what she felt was right. I think that you also fall in that category, and you should not change a thing in this story. One of the points raised by my fellow reviewers is that this story lacks diversity. And I disagree entirely. I hate stories that dwell on other storylines while I’m only interested in the LP storyline. I usually just skip those parts, or just scan over them. It was the same on OTH, especially in season 6, I just watched the LP scenes and couldn’t care less about the other storylines. There is so much going on with the LP storyline that adding “diversity” to the story would deviate from what is important in the story. All of the other characters are just happy in my mind, so why spent time and energy on them? You have spent a lot of time and energy on the new characterisation of Lucas and Peyton (and Sawyer) and I think you have to hone it; you have to hone your craft and you should not deviate from it. The story is build up in different layers. On the surface we have Lucas, Peyton and Sawyer who are not a happy family, we see what is happening in that family, and we see how them not being a happy family affects Peyton’s decision making and Sawyer’s choices as a teenager. Underneath that layer is the history between Lucas and Peyton, we go back and forth between past and present. Every chapter reveals something new about them, in the past and the present. As you can see there is enough going on to fill a book, in just these three characters, I really think it would be a waste to spend time on other characters. And btw this is how it’s done in novels. There are main characters and minor (flat) characters. If you were to look at Nicholas Sparks’s works. He hardly spends any time on the minor characters, they are only there to help the main characters, and that is exactly what is happening here. Brooke is there for Peyton and Sawyer, and Haley is there for Lucas. We as an audience get to see what the characters (Lucas and Peyton) think about the situation by way of conversations with the best friends. That is their purpose, so there is no need for background and such. The second point of critique was that people couldn’t relate to the characters. The characters frustrated them and they didn’t seem real. Well, again I disagree entirely. Okay yes, sometimes some of the characters frustrate me, but that is a good thing because that means I care. If you were to write a story and characters do some bad things and I don’t care, then you as a writer are doing something wrong. But I’ve been frustrated with all of the characters at least once in this story. I got frustrated with Lucas. Yes I know that he was just worried about Peyton’s health, and that is why he didn’t want to have the second baby, but the least he could do was go with Peyton to the clinic. This isn’t really an easy thing to do, let alone if you have to face it alone. And then he just stopped talking altogether. SO yeah, I’ve been pretty frustrated with Lucas throughout the story. Peyton (who is and will always be my favourite TV character) also frustrated me at one point. She needs to share things, and when Lucas reaches out to her, she needs to hold on with both hands, because that is what she ultimately wants. And it has to come from both sides not just one. And then there is Sawyer. She is the one who has been duped in the whole story, I felt sorry for her throughout the whole story, up until the point that she just left Peyton. I really hated her then. I just wanted to grab the kid and knock some sense into her.(not literally). I think that was about all I have to rant about the other reviewers. Now on to the review of chapter 7 and 8. It will be rather short, because most of the things have already been discussed in my rant earlier. The best thing of Sawyer finding out about Peyton’s will, and her sickness, is probably that Lucas and Peyton and talking to each other. The scene where they yell at each other was heartbreaking but beautiful. Lucas is right they are equally responsible for the mess they are in, but Peyton is also right in the fact that regardless of what is happening between Lucan and Peyton he should be a good parent to Sawyer, and that is something that he hasn’t been to Sawyer. The best part of this fight is that lucas doesn’t give up for once. He fights for Peyton, that is what I want from him. He wants this family to work? Well he has to fight for it! I love the part Brooke plays in this chapter. She really is the best friend a girl could ask for. From Peyton’s pov but also from Sawyer’s pov. Brooke provides prospective for both these girls. I think it was good that Lucas was the one who went to talk to Sawyer. He needs to make an effort with her. I love that he defends Peyton’s actions when he is talking to Sawyer. Lucas is really developing in these past few chapters. I hope he can bring his family together. I hope you’ve been enjoying this review. Sorry it took me so long to put it up here. Nevertheless I hope you will update this story, because I really need closure with this one :P |
L164 chapter 8 . 8/12/2011 Omgsh this is amazing! I can't believe you've lost your muse for this story! I hope you get it back soon - As sad as this may sound, I really need the satisfaction of knowing that LP get back to normal! |
G-styler chapter 8 . 7/30/2011 Hello!THANK YOU for updating is sure difficult to continue if you are losing your inspiration, but thanks for this.:D I'm sure you can do it! I really liked this chapter, but like I said last time: The diversity is missing, because the chapters are ONLY about the Scotts and ,it is a Leyton/Sawyer fic,but to read something about the others from time to time would be great. I know nothing about what is going on with the |
kit147 chapter 8 . 6/25/2011 Glad to see the chpter up, now on to other issues Well surely Lucas didn't think things were going to get fixed that easily. Maybe you need to go back to Peyt health scare, something could happen to her ( not death) and that might be a way of bringing the family together? Oh and maybe having another kid would be good too I could never imagine LP only having 1 especially with everything that happened in the past. Anyway so ideas for you to move your muse along with . Please UD soon |
cayt326 chapter 8 . 6/25/2011 Thanks for the update! I'm glad lucas and Peyton are finally talking and I hope Lucas tries more with Sawyer in the next chapter! |
mcgirl6541 chapter 8 . 6/25/2011 Awe I definitely think that you should continue this story. It has so much left in it. I think you could have Sawyer rebel, and go all wild child on them. And then something could happen to bring them all back together. I think you are doing an excellent job. So don't give up on this story. It is awesome. |
VFBFan chapter 8 . 6/25/2011 Yup,this story clearly needs some it will be getting VERY about Naley and Brulian? |
StephieBoo chapter 7 . 6/25/2011 Can't believe I haven't read this sooner, utterly amazing, keep it up :) |
Linda19 chapter 7 . 6/25/2011 Great story, but G-Styler is diversity is is just too much of Sawyer and though it is a Leyton fic others should be mentioned as well, because otherwise it is getting really love to read about the others about Brulian kids? How old are they?I'd love to read how Brooke is handling two boys (I think you meant Jude and Davis, right?) What about Naley? Are they still existing or what? Ya know? There needs to be something else from time to time! |
julianafun chapter 7 . 6/2/2011 I do think it's too late for them in this story, i mean not only was peyton selfish with him and with sawyer knowing that she might die if she get pregnant again, leaving her daughter without a mom, but she also destroyed her marriage, even before the abortion she was fine with the thought of Lucas leaving her, she only stayed with him because of sawyer, not because she loved him and wanted to be with him. so i think he should just dump her pesimistic ass |
OTH-TMGirl24 chapter 7 . 6/2/2011 Nice :-)So glad Lucas is determined to make things right between them. UDS! |
G-styler chapter 7 . 6/2/2011 Hey there, this story is great and I'm not even a Leyton-Fan.I don't have a favorite shipper at the moment,ya know?:D I love the fact that you are not one of those authors who prefer writing fluffy stuff and I really hope it is goin' to stay this way,but I think I won't have to worry about that, right?:) What I do miss though is the diversity.I know this story is about Leyton and Sawyer especially but it is getting kinda boring to only read about about Naley?Or...what about Brookes kids? You mentioned two of them, right?Where are they? Are they twin boys like on the show?Or boy/girl?Or girl/girl? (I hope for the first one, since the boys are sooo adorable.:D) Ya know what I mean? There are many authors who are doing just the same...all the chapters are about the "main-characters" without something different in between and they are always like "It isn't about the others." Yeah,I know, but a chapter that isn't all about Sawyer or Leyton won't make it any less obvious that this story is about is just something different and it would be cool if you added more of the others into your upcoming chapters. It's your choice.I'm just sayin! Please add more soon! |
cayt326 chapter 7 . 6/2/2011 Thanks for the update! I'm glad Lucas and Peyton are finally talking and I can't wait for more! |
xSweetAshesx chapter 6 . 5/27/2011 I love this story! It's been sad to see how much Lucas and Peyton don't communicate/haven't communicated with each other very well at all for years. But because they are finally starting to talk about the problems, I hope to read about their marriage improving. I do believe they love each other very much still..I would like to believe its not too late for them to fix their problems. In the show when Peyton could have died, I worried so much how Lucas would think of Sawyer if Peyton would have died but Sawyer was still born. In this story I get the feeling he might have acted sort of how he's acted towards Sawyer in this story-in the show if Peyton would have died..I would like to think if Peyton would have died, Lucas would have paid enough attention to Sawyer no matter what..With the dialogue about the abortion/the possibility of filing for divorce if the abortion wasn't done with the second baby, I never really thought that could have been what they had been talking about when the dialogue was first brought up in like the second chapter. But it does make sense and I understand that it would be angry. It just upsets me that they didn't talk about that problem between them for as long as they did.. I know they are still going to experience a lot of anger and hurt towards one another, but I truly hope they will be able to work through their problems and work on their marriage and Sawyer will actually see that her father really does love her(which I believe that he does). I want to read them actually having a relationship that is good, with one another! :) I hope to see an update soon! You have a new reviewer! |
