Reviews for The Hard Part
MaraYouFinishWhatYouStarted chapter 1 . 5/23/2019
This is a wonderful story and I'm glad I came across it. I don't usually read stories like this but I've been trying to expand and this is definitely a great story to do that with. It would be awesome to see this story finished. It's always hard to get so into a great story without an ending.

Found this gem again and re-read in one go. Pity you never added more. I don't agree with all your interpretations of canon, and normally that would somewhat spoil my pleasure in a story, but not here. I hope you return to it one day and write some more.
Guest chapter 18 . 10/21/2016
Ah, The Princess Bride, one of the best books/movies ever.
Guest chapter 14 . 10/21/2016
"Is this a kissing book?" is meant to be a Princess Bride reference, if i am correct?
excessivelyperky chapter 20 . 4/9/2015
Excellent chapter. I love the way that Snape lets the elves know that the leftovers are theirs. And his talk with George, complete with lab safety lecture. Snicker.
excessivelyperky chapter 19 . 10/18/2014
What a horrible nightmare! I'm glad that Harry was there to get him out of it.

And both Harry and Severus have plenty of abuse issues to deal with, not just Harry-but right now both of them feel safe, and both are testing boundaries.
excessivelyperky chapter 18 . 10/1/2014
Well...I think Snape could have kept Harry alive even away from the Dursleys. But alas, Snape still has the years of Albus Is Always Right recording in *his* head, just as abusive in its way as the "Harry is a Freak" recording that Harry still has in his.

But Snape is too used to comforting abused children to realize that he's still one, too.

And given the tapestry, Harry did have relatives in the Wizarding world that could have protected him anyway.
excessivelyperky chapter 17 . 9/19/2014
Another excellent chapter-glad that Molly is there, neither Harry or Snape can cope with the practicalities of life just now.
excessivelyperky chapter 16 . 8/9/2014
Poor Harry! He can't even throw a fit without falling into it!
excessivelyperky chapter 15 . 8/2/2014
Yes, Severus missed what was wrong with Harry. So did everyone else, including Molly and Minerva (his House head). But that's on Dumbles, who left him there *even knowing it*

But nobody ever gave a damn what happened to Severus, even if they knew (Lily knew, but neither she nor her parents ever called the cops, either).

So of course it's up to Snape to beat up on himself for not doing something, when nobody else did anything, even the Weasleys when they had a really good idea.

And one thing Molly didn't mention is that Scabbers watched while people dressed and undressed, too. That room is going to end up boiled in live steam to remove Wormtail's traces...
excessivelyperky chapter 14 . 8/2/2014
Lovely chapter! And I'm certain we would *all* be amused listening to Harry read Pride and Prejudice.

Giggles.

But at least someone is watching over Snape if the potions don't work as advertised, or work too well.
excessivelyperky chapter 13 . 6/18/2014
I'm surprised that Snape didn't learn about the cupboard when he and Harry were doing Occlumency lessons. And I suspect that he would like, very much, to have a private talk with Tuney. Preferably with a bottle of Scotch and some Veritaserum.

And a spare wand, so he can destroy it later to cover up the Unforgivable...
excessivelyperky chapter 12 . 6/13/2014
I think Harry understood why he wasn't offered the guest room right away (though me, I'd Scourgify the mattress, put down new sheets and not worry about it. But I don't blame Harry for wanting the camp bed instead).

And I'm glad that a face-saving compromise was found for Winky. This way, Harry won't be stuck doing all the cleaning, or Winky become too exhausted.
excessivelyperky chapter 11 . 6/7/2014
Harry's been thinking! It's so nice to see, heh. And his logic in Muggle terms is impeccable (though actually, Snape could just write "LARYNGITIS" on a card, point to his throat, and people would buy off on it. My husband had it once, and was told 'don't talk for three days, or you won't talk for three weeks' and the last time I looked, he's a Muggle, too).

But it makes sense. Harry needs people, but the ones he loves are pretty busy at the time. Snape is in no condition to be on his own, even with a house elf. It is a great idea to have them stay together for a while.
Elanordh chapter 20 . 5/24/2014
I just love to re-read this story so much. Please, don't stop writing. It's so good.
