It is impossible for one person to resist effectively two-to-four others of approximately the same strength, physical or magical. Even if Lupin or Pettigrew had never taken active part - highly unlikely; bully-gangs don't work that way - their mere presence would have constituted an additional threat that further divided Snape's attention and reduced his ability to defend himself. Get a clue - ask anyone who's been bullied, or read written accounts. |
