The way that you presented the existential dilemma and solution thereof of an entity that has a designated purpose and Knows it- well, most humans can't understand the peace and self-understanding and peace/comprehension that comes with knowing that you were brought into existence for a purpose, and being able to have a fulfilling purpose.
It offers a function that most don't understand, and many can't understand- that free will and self-determination is both a blessing and a curse.

Hrm. I really wish there was an AU label in the summary because then I would have been better prepared for such a different character. The story itself could be more interesting with a flashback or two, and a reference to Doug Rattmann (because I wonder: how would be different/similar in this AU?).
