Wow, that was well written! you captured Clopin's personality perfectly. I also like the pacing and small expressions of the characters that gave an interesting atmosphere to this oneshot. Great job!

My god, I love this. I'll look at Clopin from every angle, say he's righteous or deranged or cruel because he can be any. I've never thought of the Feast of Fools quite like this, but really it's more fitting than anything else. Bringing Quasi up on stage wasn't kind by any means.
And they're both very in character. Her fury and his wry sarcasm are perfect . . .
I'll rein in the rant now before it really starts to flow :)

Wow. That was great! I LOVED how you kept coming back to the mask-be it a literal or figurative mask. Disney did the same with the lighting in the CoM scene. Clopin is the most brilliantly lit character in the movie for that reason. He's an astonishingly dark character, and we only get to see an extremely brief glimpse of that in the movie. Great work bringing it out fully here.

The bitter irony of this is that Clopin is fully aware that Quasi is at least half gypsy. Quasi's being mocked for basically all the same reasons Clopin's people are-the way he looks. But Clopin's made it clear he sees Quasi as something of a traitor, no different than a dog that remains loyal to its cruel master. That said, when it comes down to it, I have to wonder if that mask isn't really hiding the bitter truth that Clopin really isn't all that different from Frollo.

It's rare to see such strong characterization and style together in a fanfic. Bravo! I especially enjoyed the way you combined narration and dialogue, never letting one or the other take over for too long.

And how like Clopin to know all the cliches. He is a performer and a storyteller, after all.
