Reviews for Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Starfire
Ohfortheloveofpete chapter 1 . 9/12/2019
Haha, people literally think that she’s a hero.
Syd chapter 7 . 5/20/2017
I'm pretty certain the opposite was said about facial hair in the Bible, but then again I have never read the Bible in its entirety, plus there is some stuff in there that contradicts others stuff so either way I have no idea. So...yeah.
Earthenfist chapter 10 . 7/22/2016
Well this was... interesting. I'm very, very glad you didn't turn it into a tract- I think you managed to tie the concepts of personal faiths into the characters in a very believable way.

I found myself uncomfortable with some of the discussion, but I think that's maybe more due to the general taboo about openly discussing religious ideas, rather than any awkwardness or out-of-character-ness in the writing. It makes sense that these characters, who have seen great sorrow and great glory, would have their own ways of dealing with that and looking at the world, and that most of them might turn to religion, a source of comfort to many, and you chose, I think, suitable religious views for them to hold.

Honestly, I'd like to see (not necessarily from you, but not necessarily not) more works of fiction utilize religion in this way- as a story element, as a way of informing a character's decisions, without making any single religious tenant or sect the root of the whole story.

Thank you for a good, thoughtful read.
redandready45 chapter 1 . 2/13/2016
Man, you really captured the awkwardness of religion among human beings, and the confusion an alien would have with human religion. I'm intrigued.
Biancachu chapter 10 . 10/11/2015
Sensitive subject was handled well.
ThoseRavenousTigers chapter 10 . 6/16/2014
It's a sensitive subject, but everyone stays in character, everything makes sense, there's a plotline and character exploration, and it's just a great story. There's a lot of subjectivity involved and it ends without "solving" anything, but without feeling like any reset button has been set either. Thanks for sharing this with us.
WyldCard4 chapter 1 . 9/20/2013
I like this, at least as of the first chapter.

Most importantly, you have the feel of the show right. On a nostalgia kick today and been watching the show and looking for fanfic, and a lot of it just felt wrong. This has the characters acting largely like they would on the show.

Thank you. It is interesting.
Spartan Altego chapter 1 . 3/9/2013
My belief in the superiority of your Titans stories to the rest of the fandom has only been further solidified by reading this. My, do I hope you write more of them at some point.
BiblioMatsuri chapter 10 . 10/27/2012
Pots and kettles, Robin, but he already knows that.

Brilliant story. The themes are serious (religion), the villain crossed a line onscreen, and the characters are just as they are in the show - which means we see both the familiar fighting, bantering and occasional awkwardness, and whole new sides of them. *claps*
BiblioMatsuri chapter 4 . 10/27/2012
Robin, Robin, Robin... Speaking from experience, it is impossible to argue rationally and logically with a True Believer of any kind, for the very simple reason that religion is based on faith and bypasses all forms of logic. It's like banging one's head into a very hard wall.

I wonder what Starfire is up to?
BiblioMatsuri chapter 3 . 10/27/2012
So when others would pray, Robin pictures Batman. Well, he is the main (possibly only true) authority figure in Robin's life.
BiblioMatsuri chapter 1 . 10/27/2012
And Starfire just kicked the hornet's nest. Radioactive mutant super-hornets. Who wants to bet that lady is a fanatic and will freak everyone out at least, or more likely set off a mob of some sort?
zenfrodo chapter 10 . 7/21/2012
"Faith takes the shape of those who hold it."

*wham* I was NOT expecting this level of thought and philosophy in a fanfic. I just was NOT. You've covered a broad spectrum of beliefs, from Pagan to Atheist to Christian without getting preachy, without presenting one as "better"...and Robin's growth to at least admit the possibility that maybe Something is out there feels completely real.

Well-done, well-played, well-written, thought-provoking: this tale starts out funny, then hits you with a major shock, and then turns it back around with a bittersweet ending. Just like a TT episode. Bravo!
zenfrodo chapter 8 . 7/21/2012
"Why yes, I am one, as a matter of fact," Brother Blood's voice responded, rich and calm and ever so politely amused as any church pastor could be.

HOLY FRAKKIN' SHI-

WOW. WOW. That turned on a hair. I was NOT expecting this.

Pardon me while I go sit in the corner and shake a while. That image of all the church members dead...*shudder*
zenfrodo chapter 4 . 7/21/2012
"But she's a PERSON, not a religious concept, and you don't have the right to use her to prop up your doddering old antiquated barbaric belief system based on a hippie who was nailed to a piece of wood!"

...like I said, I can see and hear your scene so wonderfully in my head, and I can just see Cyborg doing a massive face-palm from the doorway...
