Reviews for Blu and I
Rapper the red macaw chapter 5 . 6/1/2019
The ending Blu and I, one of the first stories to roam the Rio archive. Time to give you my thoughts.

For your first Rio story, it was good. Everyone was stuck to their characteristics; each individual chapter had a nice flow to them and I couldn't really identify any spelling and grammar errors. I do prefer the action being after the character (e.g, Blu replied and not Replied Blu) but that's just personal preference.

Nice work and hope anything I say doesn't throw you off writing, cause trust me, you're one-hundred times better than the garbage Alex, Nightly and his gang of insufficient writers.

Bit of a biased opinion, I wasn't a fan of Linda and Tulio's involvement and random romance in the movie, but the wedding was nicely put together.

Great to say the samba club again, nice for the lovebirds to experience their first dance again. One chapter left to go.
Rapper the red macaw chapter 3 . 6/1/2019
I'm not even going to question how Alice and Chloe got to Rio, nor what the odds how they could make it there, but it was a good chapter all the same.

See, this is how Jewel should have been portrayed in the sequel: sticking by her mate and offering him support. Her character just felt so wrong in the sequel and I feel like you did her better justice here. Gotta give you praise for that.

This was an interesting bit of character development with the toucan kids. The movie always portrayed them as mindless maniacs, but here, you wrote them as actual children with personalities.

That’s good, gives them more character traits to explore and the added names were a nice touch, too.

Great start for your first ever Rio story, it’s definitely fitting that Blu would be the jealous type for no other. It’s like you predicated exactly what Rio 2 had planned with Roberto…Wait a minute.

This was your first Rio story, right? I can totally see this matching with the tone the movie developed on.

Perfect way to end the story with the introduction of the kids. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna be one of those people who say “Oh, those aren’t the kid’s names!” It was a good way to end it and sets up any possible sequel, depending on where you wanted it to end. As a little note, I feel this chapter could have had more depth with the introduction of the children. This could be aspects like learning how to take care of kids, the birth of the eggs and Blu evolving into a confident father. Good ending to the story, gonna read Healing tomorrow.

Nice chapter once more, nice to see the samba club return and back in business. Jewel has friends? That’s a first one, never thought she’d be the type, but nice to see. I liked the wedding of Linda and Tulio, you put together quite well. You have done a good job with this story and it sucks that you only did five chapters, but I know you have a lot more written.

Poor Blu, dealing with bullies isn’t fun, but what better than to see a character develop from that and grow stronger. Loved seeing Jewel boost Blu’s confidence and ready to face anything together. Let’s hope that is the last we see of these geese, they’re persistent, I’ll give them that. Solid writing so far, definitely feels like a light-hearted story.
MCGamemaster90 chapter 2 . 4/19/2019
I’m not an expert on toucans, but I can’t imagine those bites are painless at all. This was a nice call back to the original movie, gives the toucan kids some actual personality and not just mindless monsters. Love the teamwork between Blu and Jewel, shows how both of their characteristics and knowledge of their respective lives. Great job on the babysitting chapter.

Gosh, I read this so long ago and I only remembered your profile recently thanks to Rico. Love this chapter, Blu is such a jealous kitten, but in an adorable kind of way. Glad to see it all worked out in the end, I do like how Jewel goes from sweet to stern in an instance. Don’t mess with that macaw. Nice job.
Assassin's Creed Master chapter 5 . 1/25/2019
Hey bluecat. We have spoken very briefly before (and I believe I helped you out with a cover or two), but after seeing your name on my friend's story author shout out, I thought it was time I pick a day to sit down and read your previous work. Because of the length of each chapter, I thought it was better suited that I leave one big review at your doorstep. Let's see what you have to offer with your first Rio story.

Anyway, criticism first and then the good stuff. The tale of Blu and Jewel after their first adventure, but without children. Right away, I like this premise already. From reading this story alone, one thing I can tell straight away is the tone. To me, this actually feels like a Rio story ripped straight from the movie. The dialogue, the characteristics, all identical to how the characters would speak. That's not always the easiest aspect to capture, so big props to you there. As for your spelling and grammar, it was great for the most point. My main criticism (this is just my opinion) when it comes to the dialogue, I think it's better to have the character name first before their response. For example, "Blu asked" instead of "Asked Blu", but that's just my opinion.

Now, let's talk about the story. The first chapter alone had my sold straight away. I can definitely see Blu becoming the jealous type and it really does show how much he cares for his loved one. Blu learning Portuguese was a nice touch and shows their chemistry well, you've captured their love perfectly. You can feel it, they truly do love each other. The chapter with them babysitting the toucan children was nice foreshadowing, but also good development on the blue macaws part since they finally bonded with the children.

The return of Alice and Chloe I thought was off (how did they get to Rio and what are the odds), but plot stories like that don't bother me too much and I've seen far worse. Was nice to see Jewel encouraging her mate to become stronger and standing by his side. The wedding between Tulio and Linda was a nice touch. I never quite understood their random subplot in the movie, but you did it quite well. Nice to see the blue macaws return to the samba club for a bit of nostalgia, hands down the best part of the movie as well. And the path to parenthood begins for our blue macaws, nice way to end your first story and ending on a similar note.

What were my overall thoughts? This was a great start. The story was nice, your spelling and grammar mostly on point and you've got a lot of potential. I see you have spawned many other stories, so I will definitely be keeping my eye out. Stay tuned for more reviews from yours truly.

And so, one chapter of our blue macaw's lives comes to an end and another begins as they embark on the journey of parenthood. Excellent job on your first Rio story, bluecatcinema, though it was short and easy to read through, it was brilliant all the same.

I enjoyed the names you given the kids, for their time, they were very creative. I also enjoyed their personalities too, you demonstrated a nice mixture Blu and Jewel's characteristics. As for your style, I enjoyed your writing, these are the kind of stories you can read and relax. I know this probably too late now, but for future reference, I think a bit of extra detail would be a nice.

Overall, I loved it and I can't wait to re-read and review the others. Until then, take care.
Ricardo the Black Hawk chapter 4 . 8/27/2018
Ahh, the samba club returns, so nice to see Blu and Jewel return to the one place that sparked their relationship. And I see we also have the Lionel Richie song return, nice throwbacks to the movie, gives you a sense nostalgia.

And I see Jewel has some friends. I kind of found that odd considering her "Humans took everything from me" line, but I'm beyond nitpicking. Excellent job with this chapter, nice to see the return of Linda and Tulio as well. Onward to chapter 5 I go.
Ricardo the Black Hawk chapter 3 . 8/27/2018
Ahh, the return of Alice and Chloe. Never saw the purpose of their characters in the original, but it's nice to see you recycled old characters and made them into good use. Pretty good chapter, love Jewel supported her mate despite his fears. Maybe we will see them again one day, who knows? Great job once again.
Ricardo the Black Hawk chapter 2 . 8/25/2018
And here we are with chapter 2. I see the toucans return once more. Nice chapter you have here, really demonstrated how Blu and Jewel are perfect for each other and how they are a team.

The whole concept was a nice idea, some nice foreshadowing towards the future. I loved how Blu uses his knowledge of his old life, goes to show how unique he was. Excellent work.
