Reviews for This Isn't Me
incense and peppermints chapter 1 . 2/12/2013
The first line of this is absolutely stellar. Hooked me in right away and I shall continue to resort to reading your other pieces until you update a certain something for me! I wanna see Timmy interacting with these new guys you were telling me about bad! Omg the suspense is evil.

Back to this piece though. I'm actually supposed to be studying for an exam that I have in approximately two hours. :) obviously I got sidetracked and read fanfiction, and I wasn't going to review until later but this was awesome and I didn't want to forget!

I love Steve at the end and his reasoning. I think he's trying to convince himself as much as Soda, cuz despite what he says, I think he loves that kid too! Steve's just a stubborn piece of crap, but what can I say, I love him for it.

Update, you know what. :p like today or by the weekend, or...I'll sic an angry Timonthy on you.

Moved Else Where chapter 1 . 4/19/2011
I'm not a big fan of Sodapop, probably because the fandom write him out to be this all mighty god that never has a bad day so I was happy with the line in your first paragraph: "It was ridiculous that people still expected you to smile".

I liked the simile of his world crashing down like dominos it was a very nice visual description to how he must be feeling within himself.

Yet another great simile with the cave and the house closing in on him. Right now I can see Soda almost willing to explode with emotions maybe a little guilt for not going after Ponyboy, frustration and anger for not knowing where he is, even maybe a little hate towards his own older brother for pushing the youngest away.

I am surprised that Soda hadn’t knocked Dallas on his ass for hiding his younger brother from him, however then you have the line “Dallas said you were just too nice” maybe that’s Sodapop’s problem all along? He’s too nice and because of this no one really shows his other emotions beside kindness, happiness, and understanding. It seems he tries to understand everyone else but apart from Darry, Steve, and Ponyboy who really understands Soda? I know I sure as hell don’t.

I loved this line: “sometimes you felt bad for smiling.”

I feel for him in the last part of this because he hates himself for being weak by crying, hates himself for smiling when his parents are no longer around, hates himself for getting angry. For someone that is so happy all of the time I feel like Soda has a lot of inner hate towards himself instead of other people and this has made me think a lot about his character in general and maybe disliking his character personally is because I’ve only seen him in one dimension and not what you’ve shown here.

I really liked it and a lot of what you wrote has had me thinking about Sodapop’s character in general and I love fan-fics that can do that because if/when I re-read the book I’ll be able to look at Soda’s character in a different way.

So ... you say this is your first Sodapop piece? Why? You write him so well. I demand more, and in the near future please. :)

My brain isn't working right now, so forgive me please. Plus, there's no way I'm gonna be able top Jenny's rambling mess. Holy shit, she sure knows how to flatter a person, eh? You definitely deserve it for this lovely piece of writing, though. I'm way impressed. This is my favorite thing you've written so far. Hands down.

I think you characterized poor Soda really well. I feel for him. After the lose of his parents, his brother missing had to be hell, especially when they're as close as they were. And yeah, good job with that. I'm lacking intelligent things to say...

I like how Steve says he'll be okay because he's a Curtis. *snorts* It made me chuckle for some reason. DAMN RIGHT HE'S A CURTIS. HE'LL SURVIVE BECAUSE THEY'RE MADE OF WIN AND AWESOME. Sorry, you know I squee for the Curtis brothers. All of them. Hell, I squee for the whole gang...

I think I'm gonna end it here while I'm still making sense. Nice work. Really nice work. AND YOUR GRAMMAR IS GETTING BETTER! You have NO idea how happy that makes me. :D

Dear Tamtam,

I am going to try and make this review suck less than all the other reviews I have left you. *nods* I've already got a massive brain fart. But I love you immensely and I hope that makes up for how lame this review will more than likely be.

"This Isn't Me" - Just... yeah. Your title oughta look like that. But regardless, it's a really catchy title, andddd I envy you because you always come up with these perfect goddamn titles and I am like WHAT THE FUCK THAT ISN'T FUCKING FAIR! But I love you for it.

"For once in your entire life you had absolutely nothing to be happy about." - Talk about a catchy motherfucking opening line. I was like OH HAWT DAMN, 'cause you like... sucked me in and I was like FUCKERNAUGHTS. And I loved everything that followed it in your opening. It was short, to the point, and just like... perfect. I seem to use that word a lot in regards to your writing.

"Your kid brother was missing and you had no idea what to do with yourself. You didn't know what day it was, you lost track, everything was just falling like dominoes and you weren't strong enough to stop it; they just kept collapsing over one another and it was never ending." - Just love everything about this. It really explains the situation and how Soda is feeling perfectly and makes him relatable and human. *claps for youuuuuu*

I really liked the way Soda was feeling about the house feeling smaller with Ponyboy gone. It's ironic, 'cause you'd think with there being less people in the house, it'd feel bigger, but it's like... suffocating him, and I dunno, I just really really liked it because it was soooo realistic and I was sitting there like "Fuck, Soda, can I pleaseeee hug you?"

"Darry had been working non-stop. Maybe out of guilt or the way your eyes blamed him every time you looked at him. But you were sure the house felt small for him too, especially with the both of you in it. Dinner was quiet and even when Two-Bit and Steve stopped by there was no laughter or jokes, nothing." - Just epic fucking sad. You just like... humanized Darry, which is like... FUCK YOU, 'CAUSE I CAN'T DO THAT. But for the first time I've read something and been like "Oh, right, Darry is a human... huh. Who knew?" So wow. Just wow. Just... stop being so goddamn talented, huh? Actually, don't. Keep being talented. 'Cause you're good at it. .

"Dallas didn't come by since everything had happened; you weren't stupid." - Wanna know what this and the entire goddamn paragraph made me think? Fuck Dallas. Fuck him. You are the only person that can make me hate Dallas as much as I do when I read something that involves him. The rest of the time, I love him to pieces. But I read your stuff with him in it and I am like YOU ARE A FUCKING ASSWIPE AND I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT PRICKFACE. And yeup. That about sums that up.

Butttt you kinda redeem him when he takes Soda out for a drink. So blah. Whatever. Fuckin' Dallas.

UM... I HATE SANDY. THAT IS ALL. Always thought she was a ho-bag. An even bigger one than Sylvia and Evie and stuff. Just... ew. She really makes me sick. Really really really really sick. I hate her guts. Thank God she went to Florida, the whore. THE WHORE I TELL YOU. THE. WHORE. :)

I lost my place... OH. The freakout. THE FREAK OUT. God, I really did feel bad for him. Honestly. He just... ugh. I can only imagine how hard this all is for him, and you did a really good job with keeping it all realistic and not over the top and too dramatic and like... awful. And I really liked how small Steve's actions were, but it showed he obviously cared a lot about Soda and that there was this mutual understanding that naturally comes with being BBFLs (best buds for life - remember when we came up with that? ;]) Just super duper realistic and well written and motherfucking epic, just like you. ;)

"He'd come back. He'd come back because he had to." - AND THAT ENDING WAS PERFECT. Just the most ace way to end it.

Basically, this was all just amazing. Very well-written and realistic and I loved every bit of it. But you know what I love more? YOU. :D I am so cheesy. But seriously, thank you for the amazing birthday oneshot.

Keep doin' what you do, because you do it well.
