Reviews for Splinter's Rose
Guest chapter 1 . 7/26/2018
This story was so sweet. I've always loved sweet, innocent, romance stories. I cracked up, though, with Mikey's oblivion when he told them to enjoy their date. I love your stories. Thank you so much for taking the time to write these fics.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this series that you’ve created. A long time ago I originally read your tales about Mikey, Raph, Donny, and Leo before Splinter’s story had been told. But the idea that it would be coming up, confirmed by you at the time, kept them always on my mind and my memory.

I’ve never read fanfics like yours before, with characterization so incredibly exact, from accent to mannerisms, that I can see them in my head and hear them speak each word out loud. Even when no action is indicated I can imagine what they’re doing or what pose they are taking due to the accuracy of your work.

Reading Splinter’ed Hearts was a special treat in that we were shown what’s going on behind his calm façade, and the fact that he desires love and acceptance just as much as his sons.

But this story is the culmination of that emotion: where you can see just how much these two hearts, from vastly different backgrounds, cherish one another. It’s a love that’s of the connected soul, where she respects him and his past just as he respects her former love. I adore the end of this one-shot, with the literal exchange of hearts in the form of the jade ring, and while I would love to see the series continue (in order to follow the antics of the married pairs and their children) I am truly glad that you’ve ended it this way.

Thank you for a lovely, lovely journey.

Wow. I really enjoyed this story. I'm glad Splinter has found someone to love him. You rarely see that in fan fics these days, and I'm really glad that you have done this. The song fits well with what's happening in the story, and I really liked seeing it. Nicely done on this.

AAAAAAAAAAAH THAT'S SO CUTE! I loved the beautiful description of the ceremony - you've really done your homework!

I'm guessing this is the end of the entire series - I'll miss it!

This story answered one question I left in my review for Splintered Hearts - now I know what happens between Splinter and Luci. I'm so glad that Splinter asked him to spend the rest of her life with him, it must have been terrifying for him to try and open up in such a way. With their lives being the way they are he was pretty set in his ways, but I'm so happy he is letting Luci in and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for shaing it!

This reminded me a bit about the Karate kid 2, where Mr myogi (I havent a CLUE of how you spell his name) shares a tea ceramony with his 'lon lost love', the fic was so nice, also GO SPLINTER! :D
Sasami1 chapter 1 . 4/15/2011
Mikell, you are an incredible writer. However, I'm glad you're taking a little hiatus from Ninja Turtle writing.

I've been reading your stories pretty much none-stop for the last three weeks. When I stop, they run in the background of my mind. I imagine this is what a junkie feels like, calculating when their next hit will be.

Thank you for setting me free. I can't wait for you to come back, and I wish you luck in your other projects :D

Krazee Ladee chapter 1 . 4/12/2011
I read this story in tears after the first two lines of the song. That is the very song Wendy Janssen (a Dutch singer who is very well-known in Japan) and her sister sang together at my grandparents' golden anniversary three years ago. It had touched our hearts. Even my dear grandmother, who was emotionally unstable and most of the time unable to speak due to a brain hemorhage, burst into tears and said: "So beautiful!". My grandfather, who sat beside her, seemed to be moved by the song - even though he never understood English.

What makes it even more beautiful is that in the end, when my grandmother passed away, he followed her three weeks later. We knew he passed away to be with her; he didn't eat, drink, take his medicine or even leave his bed. After three weeks of grieving for my grandmother, he passed away peacefully, our entire family standing around him. Isn't that beautiful? That is true love. And that's what makes this song so very special to me and my family.

So having this song stuck in the back of my head while reading this story (which is just as beautiful, by the way!) I could practically feel the same kind of love that my grandparents shared, between Splinter and Luci. I loved it! 3
