I honestly thought the same thing; any other name for 10.5 besides "The Doctor" would just be odd. John Smith works nicely for fanfiction purposes, but still. He's the Doctor.

This is really cool. I love the way different people interpret how 10.5 will go on. I don't hate the alternate names - I think that's up to the author, and I like John Smith myself - but I also like your idea that, in the end, he's always going to come back to "the Doctor."

Jeez. So. Many. Emotions. You could only imagine how the Clone Doctor muse feel, being only a copy of the original. How he will never be quite what the Doctor was to Rose, no matter how hard he tries. I never really thought of him like this, but after reading it there are so many questions.

You win. Forever. This is an absolutely incredible look into the mind of the "clone" Doctor. To be honest, I tend to stay away from fics involving him, mainly because they virtually always involve Rose and I try to avoid fics with Rose as much as possible, but because it's you and because there was something so terribly intriguing about the summary, I just HAD to read and see. And you didn't let me down! The search for an identity of his own would, I think, be the one of the biggest challenges facing 10.5/John Smith/Doctor-Duplicate/whatever else we're calling him... for EXACTLY that reason that just cropped up in that sentence. You captured that dilemma perfectly.

Wow, this was amazing, and really answered the main question I was asking myself after Journey's End. What will the duplicate call himself? This was fantastic, brilliant writing. I loved it.
