If you are reading this you are either checking the reviews to see whether this is a good story or to defend this story against negative reviews. I know writing this review will probably get a ton of "pleasant" messages sent to my inbox. This fic/series is the worst Half Life & Mass Effect crossover on this website. To quote my earlier review from SpaceBattles (the thread was on the worst fanfics of all time).
"The first fic is the Salvation series which I did not read fully through and gave up early on. Maybe it got better if I kept forcing myself to read for a few more chapters, but that can be said for any fic. This fic inserts Gordon Freeman into Mass Effect 2. (I will admit now that while I have not owned the Mass Effect series I at least know the overview of the lore.) This fic seems to have it out for Half-Life. I skimmed part of it again just for this thread and I don't want to do so again. The fic has a five chapter prologue about how Freeman got to the future and then the fic promptly gets out the hacksaw for the Half-Life lore. The mysterious G-man was actually just a Cerberus operative. The intimidating multiversal Combine were just the Reapers. The vortigaunts got killed off due to the suppression field. Gordon Freeman (from what I remember reading because I am not reading it again) had a similar personality of Samus from Metroid Other M. If I had to say anything positive about it then I would say that the story is at least mediocre due to decent grammar if you can ignore all the faults of the story. I just disliked reading it more than any other fic I have come across."
To anyone planning to write a crossover. Please don't murder the lore of one franchise just so you can hype up the other. While there is technically a "worse" crossover than this one for Half-Life & Mass Effect I at least got enjoyment out of the "worse" one. This fic was just mediocre/bad rather than hilariously bad.

Yeah, I know. 2011. As long as I'm commenting, though, salute your efforts to integrate two rather different stories and totally accept how things have to change to make it work. But really, Garrus? He's too cool for that. Should have picked someone else to hold a grudge (Miranda, say...)

now as a story this is excellent. but as a crossover it is lazy, you have handwaved way to many things from the half life universe to consider this a true crossover, this seems to be in in the league of the last spartan in terms of its faithfulness to the original material.

Please dear god let that mean what I think it means! If you bring the other half of the shared universe in i'll be as happy as can be. Other wise amazing story can't wait for the third installment.

And I'm out. You bastardized the entirety of Half Life for this story. The Combine are CLEARLY extradimensional and have taken over countless universes. They are as far above the Reapers as the Reapers are above the normal galaxy. Further, the tech from the two is not compatible. Half Life had actual teleportation and technologies considered impossible in ME.

This tale was impressive as all Hell. I'm awestruck by the scope of the project.

As a side note, when a eezo/dark energy reactor sends out a flare, it tends to knock an overcharged gravity gun back down to regular operation. At the moment the battered Freeman managed to reignite the Final Weapon, did that happen?

The Combine, being the Reapers and any current slave species, is coming. So the crowbar had to go back to Gordon.

You need to learn to stick to the source material. This isn't YOUR work of fiction, there are already established rules and boundaries for each series that exist. Follow them, or go write a story that doesn't involve characters from another series.
