I think this story had a rally great start but by this point it has become too complicated too quickly and my interest in this has evaporated, if you had spread the complications out over a much larger amount of the story and say have it get to this point in the two year gap between ME 1 & 2 then I would probably still be interested, but sadly I'm just not interested anymore.

This is, amazingly, much better than I expected. Usually the premise 'me and my friends' leads to unmitigated crap, but here it seems to work. Of course, your little group is ridiculously lucky, but that can be excused.
