I lived in a military town when I was a teenager and one of my mates was living in the single guys quarters. Apparently another guy living on the same floor had the same kind of humor... Let's call him 'Bob'.
'Bob' set his Stereo system to loudly play the theme song from Titanic on continuous repeat and went bush for a few weeks with the rest of his squadron.
When the MP's were alerted to a firearm discharged on base in the Single men's quarters - the explanation given by the person who was in the room next to 'Bob' was that he had to 'put the CD down "for it's own good"...'... And that he preformed Euthanasia on the sound system because anything that sounded like that was very, very sick and asking to be Euthanised.
He had discharged an entire magazine into the very expensive sound system after kicking in the door.
He got off with a verbal warning...
Everyone else on his floor supported his actions saying that it was 'mental self defence' and that the CD player had been "asking for it"

There are no words for how much I loved this story and how much I howled with laughter on it. I absolutely love the way you write John and Gordon, the banter between them is brilliant. Gordon laughing at John's pyjamas, then dancing on the couch and singing along to possibly the worst version of that song ever recorded (and I love the fact the ABBA version wasn't QUITE camp enough to be on John's music system!), and then, after all of that manly dancing and singing and goading - then! THEN!

THIS LINE:

"Gordon leapt off the couch and mimed handing an invisible microphone to John."

It just finished me off! I can so see it happening! That was fabulous!

Gordon making comments about John asking Brains to his room - oh my god, that boy is completely crafted from epic!

And then finishing it off with "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!"

Briliant. Just. I don't even have the superlatives at my disposal. I loved it!

I have no idea how that kid is still alive... Virgil and Scott really have terrible timing though... I love Shania Twain! She's such an amazing artist!

Bawling my eyes out because it made me laugh so hard. This story gives you an image of whats going on. Well, at least it gave me some funny mental images! Loved it. Great work. But now I have both of the songs stuck in my head... LOL!

I am now going to be singing 'Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight" for the entire weekend. It's a good thing I'm comfortable with my sexuality. (Or lack of...)

I love Gordon's wind-ups, and how John just does The Eyebrow Thing, which only makes Gordon even more hyper and determined to get a reaction. Gordon needs Ritalin, or something. A good burst of oxyhydnite would do the trick.

John probably loves Erasure. He probably loves ABBA too. (And Steps.) Maybe on TB5 he dances around to "SOS" in an ironic way. Who knows.

I can see him having a quiet boogie on his own, a Saturday Night Fever session, "Well you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk."

He's probably even got the white suit. (With a lilac shirt, of course.)

Then, right at the end, to have the smother hens walk in..."TRAGEDY...when the feeling's gone and you can't go on it's Tragedy..."

Come on John, you and me, down the disco, NOW. We'll have a dance-off. Yeah, Gords, you too. Let's bust some moves.

Kaet, I don't know where you come up with these stories but I'm so glad that you do. I could just picture Gordon dancing and then Scott and Virgil hearing just what John was singing. Gordon totally managed to back him into a corner.

I can hardly wait to read what you come up with next.
