I like that you didn't go into detail on the smut.
I am going to assume it was just to paint a picture of what Dean saw and I approve.
I don't like gay love in fanfiction because in most cases it will devolve into reams of explicit descriptions.
It's the same for hetero love but there seems to be a smaller percentage that devolves into explicit scenes.
Characters hating gay people should not be something you should apologise for because it happens in real life too and they are the beliefs of the characters not yours.
It's the same for a story about ss officers, that I write about jews getting massacred doesn't me I as the writer approve.

I loved both this sequel and the original for the great concepts and adept execution, but can certainly understand how falling out of love with a canon can happen and totally kill a story. I guess Chuck slipping on a banana peel is out, given what's happened in Supernatural canon. I think I still would have greatly enjoyed the story as planned out. Maybe someday you will choose to pick it up again. Given your setup, there's nothing to say they don't get reincarnated in some other fandom you might get into.
