I like Dave's personality here, and his reactions to everything that happened, I also think the whole "Meet the parent's for the first, but actually fourth time" Is a really great side story. :)

I have a similiar story where Balthazar died "Grief", and trust me my "Origin of Balthazar Blake" has a lot of angst in it, but then moves on. But this was a really good story. You're right there isn't always a Hollywood ending.

If the peridot ring belongs to Balthazar I should let you know it is supposed to be a green emerald, not perdidot but I won't get into specifics.
