This is a very interesting turn of events. I always assumed that Mag was secretly in love with Nathan, but never the other way around. That being said, I think you did an excellent job with this story.

The timing is perfect, this is something that could fit in that slot between the moment when Shilo is knocked unconscious until she wakes. While also on the topic of timing, you did a great job with the pacing in the story. The beginning is slow paced, which is perfect for when Mag is confronting him on his drinking, then when they start kissing which leads to the romance scene, the writing is much faster to match the pace of the moment.

It's interesting that you chose for Nathan to be an alcoholic. I suppose if a person's job consisted of ripping out people's organs then returning to a house decorated with the images of his dead wife, it would lead him to drink. Good work with having Mag be the strong one, as she always struck me as the rational one out of a collection of dysfunctional characters.

Mag's reason for why Marni would not be upset for Nathan loving her is sound. It's sad to read that along the way, while with Marni that Nathan fell for Mag, but could not act on it. At least he had that small amount of time in your story to show his love for her, that is if it's not just the alcohol making the decisions.

This is probably one of the most amazing and heart breaking things I have ever read and I loved it. Thank you for bringing it into existence.

This is well-written. I always loved the idea of Nathan and Mag having secret feelings for each other. The ending was quite sad but realistic at the same time. Good job.
