Reviews for The Heart in the Words
Platinum Blondie chapter 13 . 7/30
I've just finished reading your story. I really liked the way you showed how Michael progressed with the intensive input from his parents. I work in Additional Support Needs education, and often see children who have similar barriers to learning. Your story does a great job of showing that children with communication difficulties are just as able to learn new skills as their peers.
GalaxieGurl chapter 12 . 7/26
For some reason, I never got alerts for this story until now, so you're getting one big review. There are many little kiddos who don't adjust to the idea of a new baby any better than Michael, even though they have no developemental delays, so his reaction as you've written it, is is quite normal. His speech delays were certainly a hurdle to overcome, yet with abundant patience, much time, and hopeful dedication on the part of his parents, he's progressing so well. Your initial author's note of successfully helping a student at your school when no one else had been able to get them to speak is similar to the accomplishments of my friends' older child who was able to help a younger disabled child because of their demonstrating that, with a will to persevere, everyone can achieve if they try and are given the tools they need. You've done an amazing job of writing a realistic story of Booh and Brennan's family working through their challenges.
554Laura chapter 13 . 7/26
Having a new baby sister is often an adjustment for the siblings. It seems like Booth and Brennan are doing the best they can to help Michael understand what's going on.
IHeartBonesBooth chapter 13 . 7/26
I absolutely loved this story and I know it’s finished but I would love a sequel story about Michael and Christine growing up together.

pasha54 chapter 4 . 6/30
I dated this guy in high school who had a severely autistic brother. His Mom gave up a Ph.D program so she could give him more attention. So I have SOME understanding of this.
RobinAngelena chapter 12 . 6/30
I went back and read all the chapters. Interesting story. Not something I would expect for B and B.
MstgSzy chapter 12 . 6/30
I went back to Chapter 1 and re-read the entire story before starting Chapter 12. It was good to be able to see the progress that Michael made under the loving guidance of Booth, Brennan, Parker, Max, and their entire extended family. It was illuminating to see the challenges and how they met them. I found that I was sad to see the story end. If you should decided at some point to pick the story up again after some years have passed for the Brennan-Booth family, I would definitely be among those who would be reading it. Thanks for this story.
topaz270 chapter 12 . 6/30

MstgSzy chapter 11 . 9/22/2018
It was great to see Michael make some great milestones in this chapter. Especially, that he was able to finally call Brennan 'Mommy'. I definitely like how you portray that not only Brennan and Booth, but the extended family (Max, Rebecca) as well as professionals are all working to help him.
kareneb chapter 10 . 7/15/2018
This is a great chapter. I enjoyed reading it a lot. I would have liked to read more but I will wait for more to come. I am getting anxious for more to read.
kareneb chapter 1 . 9/16/2017
My son had ADHD and it affected him more when he was growing up than as an adult. It took him awhile to learn that he is not dumb. In fact he took an IQ test and scored pretty high on it.
