It just dawned on me that I still had this sitting in my inbox. I've been needing a slash fix lately, so I wanted to be in the right mood for Dean's birthday, promising myself I'd read this before the show came back tonight. And now it's NOT. Oh well.

But this was somewhat heartbreaking and yet entirely plausible. I miss John. He doesn't show up in fics so much anymore. I remember hoping they would do something on the show when Dean turned 30, but nope. I'm going to pretend that for this year non-robo-Sam and Bobby actually did something for him.

Thanks so much for having Ben call Dean! I love that! I wish the writers wouldn't just let them drop like they never happened. :(

Great contrast in his birthdays between then and now. At least John and Sam made the effort then. Shame it took the doctor to remind them. :(

I enjoyed reading your story as we visited Dean and Sam with their father. I felt so sorry for Dean as his father and brother both forgot his birthday. I think it was worse that Sam was so wrapped up in life that he would forget his big brother's birthday. Dean would never forget theirs.

You did a nice job with the injured Dean and love how worried he was about his dad and brother. He couldn't rest until he knew for sure they were OK.

I'm glad that John and Sam figured out one of the best gifts they could give Dean was not to fight. '...the cessation of hostilities was the best present they could have gotten him. He was determined to enjoy it for as long as it lasted... if only he could stay awake. At least they were together, and that was really what Dean had wanted for his birthday.'

The story set in the present was nice, I love that Sam and Bobby both remembered Dean's birthday.

I'm not a fan of Lisa/Ben so I'm sorry, I could have skipped that scene with Ben and just focused on Dean sitting at the kitchen table with his family, Bobby and Sam.

Dean's wish list is awfully short and simple but rarely achieved, so glad you were able to grant it for him. My dad's birthday is the same day! Of course I could not ever tell him his birthday is on the same day as my favorite character ever. I don't he'd understand the great compliment that it is, LOL.

It's always been about family for Dean and that is why I loved how you gave him the birthday present of getting that call from Ben.

Having the simple joy of having loved ones like Bobby and Sammy remember would have probably been enough...but adding the joy of hearing Ben's voice just made his day so much brighter!
