I really felt for Harry throughout this story. Although I would have been ok without the epilogue, adding it did finish off the plot in a really nice way, with hope.

Yay - thank you for another chapter of your wonderful story! I'm so pleased there is improvement in his condition and that now Harry can try and be optimistic. These last chapters have been so well written, showing Harry's relationship with his daughter and his ex wife - tentatively, and at least temporarily calling a truce. The way you wrote about his feelings for Ruth was so simple and so great - she is the balance in his life. Although he has great sadness with his family and his son's condition, he can still find happiness in his life with Ruth and this has been well written. Ruth has kept to the sidelines but she is close enough for Harry and this would be so true to her character. It would be hard to be in this position - to have to accept that your relationship is going to have to take a bit of a back seat while other family issues take precedence. I really hope we get another story from you to continue this - there is so much more left for you to write about here! Please give in and write a sequel!

What a great way to finish! A ray of hope at the end of all the angst. This has been a brilliant fic to read from start to end, and I'm really glad you kept with it, because I know how difficult you found it in places. I've loved the look at Harry as a very human person - with all the faults and nuances inherent therein. I like that you didn't vilify Jane, and of course, the transition to couple for Harry and Ruth was handled brilliantly. All beautiful, and I hope you are very proud of this piece: you should be.

Really liked this ending. Good to see Harry's family pulling together when it mattered, but glad that he went home to Ruth.

If a sequel is a possibility, it would be great to see more of Graham - recovering, hopefully!

Oh, last chapter! It's good to see Harry and Jane shutting up and agreeing when the chips are down.

Is this a case of poetic justice, with Jane away for work for the first time and Harry there to pick up the pieces of his children for a change?

Have been thinking about the flashback in the last chapter. I've driven my Mum to giving me a slap as a teenager and for a LOT less than Graham managed. And I didn't have a father at all. So I'm not massively sympathetic to his p.o.v. as yet.

Poor Catherine. And Ruth is such a sweetheart! It's lovely to see her empathy shine out. Can't wait for more.
