Damn, this is that good shit. The Walkin' Man is pretty great, though I gotta say, I hope Vance was being his dramatic self in calling it "death incarnate". I like it more as something like the Wendigo, more of a local sort of horror, one spirit among many haunting the post-apocalypse.

Not that this not being the case would make me stop reading, assuming the story were to miraculously resurrect :D Obviously not gonna happen, mind, I strongly suspect you don't check this site anymore, given how long it's been, but still. Whenever a story brings me joy, I like to say it, even if it's likely to go unheard.

The captured instability of absolute power, freedom, and a somewhat good fundamental nature is pretty great here. Captures from both out and in how it can feel in Fallout. Day 1, you're fast and strong as hell, but within human limits.

Give it a bit, and you're a hero of old, Achilles on walkabout, Perseus on patrol. You can give with generosity, all consequences manageable. You can strike out with great vengeance, no one can stand against you unless you fuck right up and get careless. And, the best part? All those old myths, the great heroes worked a _lot_ like that. As nasty as they could be heroic.

Gabe needed a grown-up, a proper grown-up, like Simms, to lay down some law. And if Lucy never talks to him again, it's a good reminder: life and death might be yours, but you can't compel _affection._ Affection is earned, not taken.

I really love every bit of this. You're...well, okay, not a _master_ of dialogue, but you're a damn bit better than most people are, especially for using a game with, ah, not the best-written dialogue as your source material. You capture the essence and the tone very well, and put a superior skill at writing and more freedom at characterizing everyone to really good use. Shame this fic is dead, but I still hope you get to read this review. I'm having a lot of fun with this story.

I honestly love Lucy West in general. She's very underrated, I felt, given what we got to see of her, and what she was able to do for Ian.

I love this story to pieces, and hope you, good author, are doing well, wherever you may be, and whatever you may be writing.

I like this a lot, particularly for how _weird_ Gabe's mind is. It tends towards how I tend to play Fallout PCs. To do the things they do, there's gotta be at least a bit _wrong._ Too analytical, too vicious, too this, too that...always gonna be _something_ off. Something that lets you be a ways from normal.

After all, normal people don't become heroes.

While I like where this story is going, I can't help but think that Gabriel is going to be one of those "natural badass" characters, what with how he reacted to those raiders charging him. Other than that, I love the story, but I definitely suggest maybe doing something with his character, maybe make him more "human" if you get what I'm trying to say.

Not much to say but here’s the thing I love Gabriel’s story and find it so interesting and when it cuts to Sarah or her squad it loses focus I don’t care about Sarah and her problems I want to see what’s going on with Gabriel he has an interesting personality but Sarah doesn’t and I want to see how Gabriel deals with the wasteland and not have the Lyons pride wipe out random super mutants witch they themselves say is pointless as the just come back but I do like what you did with the rest of the pride in expanding there characters and I like how we got to see Ian’s hunger and Moriarty being a cunt now some fun facts it’s cool to see Kodiak using the unique flamer the burn master but i don’t know how he got it since it’s in a shitty metro station full of freal ghouls and rads Vargas and Tristan are removed from the game after completing take and back and if you kill Moriarty gob will take over the saloon and write gobs saloon over Colin’s
