Reviews for Matters of the Heart
Brother Mirtillo chapter 1 . 6/18/2011
Kinda tricky for me to connect to a story that’s only from one character’s perspective when that one character is so immortal that everyone else kinda breezes by. And yet you managed it. Got a little mixed up on who was the man of temple and man of seas, but I’ll go by the “welcome back” segments as the better clue. I think my favorite bit was right towards the end: “always the front claw, always.” It really catches the enduring support between the man of faith and woman of fields, and for a dragon to declare “always,” that’s saying something.

Very poetic, too. It’s more of thoughts and images with only occasional sentences, which I guess makes sense, as the Crimson Dragon doesn’t speak. (Of course, that also makes it so closely-woven that it takes more than one reading to get it, but that’s poetry for you.) Even the Earthbound monsters each had their own styles for standing over their foe’s demise. Not sure what Cusillu’s waiting for, though... Overall, very elegant!

This seems interesting.

I hope there will be a next chapter.
Hope for Love chapter 1 . 2/4/2011
I really like this story on how Leo would eventually become the 6th signer. Just one thing: you gave Yusei credit for bringing Jack back to the fold, when in my personal opinion: Carly was mostly responsible for that happening. Just my opinion!

Wow...wow...wow. I'm sorry, I'm so emotional right now (I just watched episode 142!) and now reading this, it's kind of an overload ;

Imagining the Earthbound Immortals laughing at the Crimson Dragon is believable, as the idea of the spider seizing control of Rudger when he faltered as a Signer. When I think back when the Earthbound Immortals overpowered their hosts (i.e Carly, Misty), I can see Ruka, when awakening as a Signer at just three years old, falling into that coma. It makes sense it's so overpowering that the dragon would feel the need to split it between five humans.

I like how listening to the heartbeat of the humans is hard for the Crimson Dragon . A constant reminder of what he doesn't have.

Another thing I like is how you describe the Signers. How Aki tried to run from her own fate as a Signer, and how Yusei brought her back.

I could keep going on and on, but bottom line is another amazing piece of fanfiction. I look forward to any future stories of yours.

P.S It is pretty adorable thinking of humans as little dragons :) Oh, and just curious, how did you choose the names for the Signers? (Man of seas, woman of blood, etc.)
Higuchimon chapter 1 . 1/8/2011
You know, I tend to like to review badly written fics more than well written ones, because it's easier to find the words, especially when I'm frothing in rage. When it's a well written fic on this level, what else can I say but "great job" and squee? But that's exactly what you did here. It feels right, it fits in all the right places, and I really enjoyed reading it. I don't see anything that needs editing offhand, not in spelling, grammar, or characterization.

The descriptions, especially of the Earthbound Gods at the beginning, are excellent and vivid. The Crimson Dragon's pain is heartbreaking, and the triumph at the end wonderful.

Squee. :)
