This is a great Castle fanfic. You've caught the nuances of the different dialoges between the characters perfectly. I love the touches of humour you have incorporated. Like some of the other reviewers, I would have liked to read a bit more about their "date" at the ball. Maybe you can have Kate tell Laney all about it so that we can find out what really happened!

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the story to find out what happens next.

You did an awesome job with the side conversations! Lanie was perfect with her touch of sarcasm and her unfailing belief that these two are meant to be together. Martha and Alexis teasing Castle about the date was precious too. I love how you even had Martha waving that one finger like she does on the show. I could picture that scene perfectly. I could also picture Castle tripping over his own words when Kate asked him why it wasn't a date, and then it was perfect that they would both say the same thing at the same time at the end. That is so classically Caskett!
