I've just re-read this story (although I'm sure I must have read it before this) Just to get into the mood of the fic, I listened to Mahler's Adagietto from the 5th while I read Chapter 3 ... it brought tears to my eyes. This fic *really worked* for me. I've always felt there was a tortured quality to the Adagietto, but to listen to it as I read this gave it a different quality altogether - more romantic. (On reflection, perhaps it's me who is tortured :( )
