Anna chapter 1 . 4/4/2011 Really nice fic, and very IC for both Ryou and Bakura. |
AbiwonKenabi chapter 1 . 3/9/2011 I really like the take you took on their relationship; others I've read around here...just don't feel right, and seem OOC. Your's on the other hand, kinda keeps true to their contrasting character. It's very interesting you pointed out Bakura's protective behavior, too. Good job at exploring Ryou's thoughts. You did a great job! :) |
LuckyLadybug chapter 1 . 12/27/2010 It's always so interesting to see people's takes on Ryou and how he deals with Yami Bakura. I really like your portrayal here! Ryou isn't some cowering boy, but vocal in his displeasure. Yami Bakura saying "You're welcome" amuses me far more than it should. LOL. It's interesting; I'm not sure I ever quite thought of the possibility that maybe Ryou didn't actually want to give up the Ring, because of it being a gift from his father or because of some other reason. I always just thought it kept coming back, so he'd given up trying to get rid of it. But then again, I remember those times in the anime and manga where he was asking about it and wanting to find it. In the manga there was that odd thing where he seemed to not remember about Yami Bakura when he got the Ring back following Battle City. Yet in other parts he seems very aware of Yami Bakura's existence, so I'm still puzzled by that one part. The ending monologue, where Ryou thinks of how the spirit is always ready to protect him and attack others at the slightest grievance, manages to shine a bit of squee into this piece. I love when Yami Bakura jumps to Ryou's defense in the manga, even though his methods are ... certainly objectionable, to say the least. And I adore the final line. It reminds me a bit of an approach I took in a short fic of my own called The Worst Thing. This is a really well-done during series piece! I enjoyed it very much. |
deactivated82940 chapter 1 . 12/27/2010 "He'd long since accepted that there was nothing he could do about it, because he'd tried and he'd failed, but the school week had been particularly harrowing and Ryou found he couldn't just move on like nothing had happened." I think this summarizes Ryou very well. We know he's a soft spoken kind of guy, but the mention of the real world worries are playing with his nerves and it explains his what would be OOC moment very nicely, and instead keeps in IC. The 'tried and failed' part really struck a cord, because dwa, poor thing, he DID try, but YnBakura is just too much for him. ::hugs Ryou:: You write YnBakura very well. This mocking, sarcastic voice of his; he's such a bastard XD "Grin and bear it." Pretty much another little tidbit that describes Ryou well. And the ending line...::shivers from the awesome-ness:: Yes, please do keep writing for YGO |
Individually Packaged chapter 1 . 12/25/2010 Wow. This is exactly what I imagine Tendershipping to be like. I honestly haven't read much of this pairing, but the few things I have read seemed OOC compared to this. I think you described their relationship perfectly. Ryou doesn't quite hate Bakura, but he's not very keen on losing control of his body at odd times of the day. Your narration flows beautifully and is so much fun to read. Thank you for sharing such a great piece! :) |
