Why is elphaba cursed with such terrible unhappiness all the time? I just wish she at least had a better childhood. I guess that'd be the birth of fanfiction but whatever... Fenominale oneshot, by the way

Aww, this was so sweet and sad..but a great story! :) I really enjoyed this.

Wow...and you call me an angst author. You're so very good at it. This really was flawlessly written, and it was a good fusion of musicalverse Melena and how much she detested Frex and bookverse Melena, who was young and wanted attention and adoration. Very sad, and the addition of Sophelia added an unexpected angle of depth to her.

I do love how she realized that, while not a model mother, she does care about Elphie, if nothing else. Beautiful job.

Aww! That was amazing. It's not often that you see a story completley about a lesser character. i love how you completley detailed her life and filled in all the blanks! This is one of my favorite stories! :)

It shouldn't have - given her circumstances - but it made me giggle.

It certainly lived up to its name. Hauntingly beautiful could sum this up very nicely. I hugely enjoyed it and it was written so very well. I was completely absorbed in it.

The funny thing is that I JUST got the idea to write a story similar to this yesterday! Not very similar, just of the meeting between the Wizard and Melena.

This was very well done, I enjoyed it very much. I really liked the ending with Nessa and Elphaba watching in, it was very sad. I like your take on Melena, I never saw her as a bad person.

Lovely to see a new story from you! It seems like you’re trying a new style here, especially with some of your descriptions, and I like it. It especially works for Melena. You continue to have a talent for fleshing out underdeveloped ideas using elements that canon gave us. It makes everything fit seamlessly, to the point where I had trouble remembering which bits were yours and which were canon’s. I got a good sense of her desperation here, and I felt like you really helped explain what canon was trying to say about her. Also, I like the interesting Sophelia-Melena parallels with Nessa-Elphaba, especially with regard to guilt, sickness and how Nessa was the better ruler. The fact that Elphaba reminds Melena of Sophelia makes it even more interesting.

All in all a great outcome to a long plane ride. Thanks for sharing it! (And hey, not all twenty-four-year-olds are old and crotchety! Some of my kids will tell you that I'm more of a kid than they are.)

Sheesh, that was fantastic. Wow. I've never read such a convincing, original depiction of Melena as Elphaba's mother, and Frex too. So well written, too :D

This was honestly amazing! There are few pieces written about Melena, and I like your take on her. She didn't seem like just the cheat she appeared to be in that one scene. She seemed to have more reason behind it all, and I loved how you explained her feelings towards different people and introduced the character Sophelia and explained how everything happened...LOVE IT! There were, of course, a few errors, spelling mistakes or typos but that's all right. Didn't stop me from loving it!
