Oh my goodness this is amazing

This is the best Castiel story I've read, thank you very much for writing this :3 your writing style is supurb and spot on! It will be one of the stories I come back too to study Castiel if i ever were to write about him in my own fics. Thanks again, its beautiful!

This is so lovely. You clearly did your research and were able to meld the lore here in such an effective way. SPN's Gabriel was such an amazing character and sadly underused. This is a great little piece.

As much as I loved (will always love) Gabriel I wish they had at least one scene with the group paying their respects, because he didn't have to care, he could have just left them to rot.

He hears Dean call out to him over the sound of his own weeping, hears Sam holding him back, and mourns for the brother who will never enter the gate to greet him.

Seriously, though, I wish the shown had shown mor of Gabriel-as-Archangel, not just Gabriel-as-Trickster. We got glimpses of it, but there was such a wealth of mythology that could have been explored, but won't be now.

Unless they bring him back. I still hold out hope for that glorious day...

Lovely use of language, and the depth of Castiel's emotions I found very moving and believable. He was his brother after all.

I do tend to repress Gabriel's death (see: a lot) but this was a very nice canonical reaction to the his passing.

I almost didn't read this cause I thought, hmmm... Castiel/Gabriel slash... no, thanks. But after reading "Named" I read it anyway, cause I knew it couldn't just be a silly PWP. And I am sooo glad I did. You write Castiel soo well. He is so deep, so serious, so sad, sooo compassionate even though at times he comes across as this man of stone. And you make of Gabriel so much more than just the trickster. Sure, he is that, but he is so much more! (I loved him so much in "Named".) Your writing, be it epic as in "Named" or short like this one is just beyond words. Thanks for all the love!

This was so sad but so deep as well. I like the way you added dept to Gabriel's character, especially the way you infused his Supernatural persona with the Biblical Gabriel. Castiel's admiration and love for him were also so very well portrayed, that they only made the loss so much more sad. I don't normally enjoy angsty fics, but you did an awesome job.

HA! I was just wandering around aimlessly on the SPN section when I came across Named. Delicious is fine, but I find this site better suited to my silly needs.

Anyhoo.

There are not many 'Castiel mourns Gabriel' fics, though all agree Castiel SHOULD'VE mourned Gabriel. Deeply and angsty. One thing that I've always enjoyed about your fics is how you bring in the holy speech to the characters. It's not something I often see and when I do, it's done poorly. Even for the brief sentence of Gabriel announcing the Son, I felt oddly moved. Dunno why, but I do.

i was so sad when gabriel died i mean for real though he was awesome and i wish the show showed castiel mourning his big brother it would have been awesome
