I was going through my favorite authors list for stories to re-read, waiting for updates and all that. I have a terrible memory, so it works out excellently. I know you likely won't check your mail here or have a chance to get back to me, since this fic is from years ago, but I had a comment.

You wrote that the Batarang cuts through Jonathan's (usually) burlap mask. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but if Batman's Batarangs were sharp enough to do that, and he's throwing them at a moving target's *head*, he could easily kill them by cutting a major artery in the neck. It seems a bit reckless. If he has ever used super sharp ones like that in canon, he probably had other ones he would use in this situation, considering how he feels about killing, and all.

Just a thought. And I don't buy the idea that Batman sent a 'warning shot' right at Crane's face lmao. He can't predict their movements that well, as much as he studies the rogues, but he would know Crane is a kind of weird fighter and moves in ways that are hard to predict.

Anyway, that's not really meant as criticism, I just noticed it and it gave me pause. There are plenty of stories that I like with way more unbelievable things. Meandering thoughts.

Oh no, he shouldn't have done that to Alice. That'll be a problem... I'm kind of surprised Jervis hasn't chipped him yet and said, let Jonathan out! And taken off the chip... But is Jonathan still sane enough to function after breathing the gas? That would explain why he's 'under'... But didn't Batman analyze the stuff? And he got a few lung-fulls. Clearly, there IS something that works as an antidote... Maybe. Gordon doesn't have that many 'anonymous sources' lol, not that he trusts.

I like how you describe Scarecrow as 'it' from Scarecrow's own point of view, as well as thinking of Jervis as 'it'. My all-time favorite depiction of both Scarecrow and Jonathan was in the Fear of Faith arc of No Man's Land. He saw himself as Satan, describing how in early religious mythology, Satan was an Angel, whom God sent down to spy on humans, Scarecow said something like, 'I am an agent of a most Holy court, and these is much work to do.' It was extremely well written and well drawn. The 'it' thing plays well with that, because Fear shouldn't need a gender. Though in that arc there's no 'break' in consciousness between Crane and Scarecrow, which is the norm for comics - it's just an attitude or character Jonathan enjoys slipping into.

Wow :) I've just read this story from start to finish and I love it! Your character portrayal is brilliant and the plot is very interesting. Can't wait for the final chapter.
