Reviews for You Were So Small
Guest chapter 1 . 8/19/2018
This was amazibh. All of Arthur's emotions - anger, disappointment, agony were expressed so vividly in the descriptions. Don't ever stop writing please. And thank you for giving the chance to read such brilliance

Yours faithfully,
A fan

This is beautiful. I have no more words to describe this. Honestly, I'm terribly glad you made quite a historical background. And Gosh, I never thought of pain America should have suffered through the war, as it lay in his land. And the loyalist! Yeaaahh, thanks for mentioning that! I also believe Alfred is also a bit loyalist at heart, especially since he is raised by England's own hands. And the conflicting pain between England as nation and England as guardian, you capture it perfectly. The reaction both America and England with each other are in character (in my head). Yes, America want his independence, but England is also dear to him so he protect England in some extent during the imprisonment. America is soft at heart, that's what I believe. I kinda think it's France who swing the leaders to give hostile treatment to England (damn frog). AND I LOVE YOUR CHARACTERISATION OF ENGLAND! BRITISH EMPIRE DOES NOT BEG, BABY! Decide not to show his weakness, his care, his emotion, his love, so so much pride, but couldn't help love Alfred the most, what a conflicting feeling. That England didn't turn into hopeless clingy will do everything to have America back, but strongly guard himself as a superpower nation. Yet so full of love and care towards America so he just black out himself, refuse to eat or shiver, and never admit he cares. I LOVE THAT. And also, thank you for not making any sexual attempt just because America can. I believe in this moment, although probably America and England love has (a little bit) shifted into romantic love, at this point I agree they are still strongly in brotherly/familial relationship, although I notice you kinda avoid word "elder brother" and use word "master" instead. Um, that's the only thing I disagree, cuz I don't believe America see himself as a "dog" or "slave" in England's eyes. I think America realise that England is a tad doting parent/brother/guardian figure (btw after the Revolutionary War, England still have positive view in US and people fastly let bygone be bygone). To sum up my review, I would like to say, GOOD JOB! Your version of post Revolutionary War in my judgement is the best available out there!
Karen chapter 1 . 8/4/2015
ANGST. ANGST EVERYWHERE.
But well done. I normally have a favorite author from each fandom that I branch out from, and you are the one from Hetalia. I've seen Revolutionary War fics, but pretty much never after the war, and I wanted to see what happened to Alfred and Arthur after the surrender.
TickingHellZzz chapter 1 . 6/28/2015

Guest chapter 1 . 1/2/2015
I read NYH before reading this and I was so excited to see how well connected the two are! NYH is hands down my favorite historical Hetalia series and hope to see the newest chapter soon! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR STORIES WITH THE FANDOM!
thisisup-upisno chapter 1 . 11/16/2013
There are still mistakes, but I can't think of them right now - homonyms, a grammar oopsie once, nothing serious.
Anyway.
This is probably the most in-depth emotional Revolution fic I've ever read. I have been looking for THIS STORY ever since I joined this fandom, and you gave it to me. Thank you.
Hellie Ace chapter 1 . 7/31/2013
So lovely, m'dear! I didn't get to read the original, but this version is phenomenal! The characterization was just lovely, especially the more reserved nation versions of the characters. I really enjoyed how you separated that out: the human from the nation. Also, keeping Arthur aloof on the outside was a very well done representation of the British Empire. He's the world superpower at this point. How pathetic would it be for the world to see him broken up over one colony? But seeing Arthur - the real man, the human inside - shattering over the lose of a beloved child is a beautiful juxtaposition to the brutal conflict of the war.

Kudos, lovey! It was amazing!
skylaeatpie chapter 1 . 7/3/2013
That was deep. Slightly depressing, and most definitely heart wrenching.
... in other words, I loved it!
