The idea or SPARTAN mothers (Palmer and Kelly being examples) always makes me smile. Not only would they be seismic influences amongst the non-augmented parents but an incompetent teacher or the parent of a bully would find them a serious prospect for fear!

Lasky, get some sleep; I'm serious. You're not a SPARTAN, who can apparently subsist on adrenaline and suicide missions. You need some down time or you'll crash or melt down in a crisis and your people need you to be better than that!

One thing that really rings true in this chapter is the abnormal emotional responses. The Spartan-II candidates probably didn't have a very normal psyche after everything that had happened to them, even up to this point. So, understanding intimacy and those sorts of emotions isn't something particularly likely.
