I love how you've shown Saki bonding with Mikado and Anri; I would have liked seen more of Anri herself, she's pretty much a non-entity here. (also I can't thank you enough for not having made this shizaya)
I like how Izaya actually thought about who was less likely to be taken over by the Mask - no who would be the most amusing to be sacrificed, whose sacrifice would have the most interesting consequences, but which one was more likely to get out more -or-less intact. Of course he probably thought like that to protect himself - he's smart enough to know that all the others would be after him if was the cause of death of one of theirs, and even he would maybe not be able to make it through - but it would also be very interesting, so he could consider it. So that he thought about his best bet - I liked that :)
The fact that he was wrong (Mikado would never be able to look away from pure knowledge), and more interestingly, that he didn't anticipate Masaomi's reaction - really, how did he not see it coming - that's just the icing.

You know, in the anime, i absolutely love the scene in Shizuo's flashbakc where he, Izaya, Celty and Shinra are in the same room. It doesn't last long but I thought ?I would love to see more of those four forced to interact'. And eh - it's kind of canon that Shizuo and Izaya are kind of Shinra's only friends. (and when you think about it, wow. That has to suck.)
So with this fic canon, it means that, instinctively, he gets close to non-humans. Since it's something that meshes really well with his personality, it reinforces the possibility of Shizuo and Izaya notbeing humans - seriously I had problems with this headcanon until I realised what it says about Shinra, then yes, yes yes.
Now if somehow Celty changes him into a fae, those four are going to be stuck together for millenia. I don't care whatever happens to be canon in the novels, I'm staying here.
(also you're doing sort-of at-least-for-now polyamory between anri, saki, mikado and masaomi. Which is the best thing ever.)

Well, Shizuo would win against a brick wall, that explains why he can 'argue' with Izaya and actually have results...

This is the single best piece of Durarara! fanfiction that I have ever found. Everyone was in character, the plot worked out well, and it was just an enjoyable story.

A brilliant, and frankly under-appreciated, story. I really like the idea if Izaya as a fae, Shizuo as well. The amusement this story has brought me shall never be met by another. I say this partially because it sounds nice, and partially because it's true. Whatever works. Very well done. I take my fedora off to you. Why? Because fedoras are cool. I am among those who would enjoy a sequel, if you are wondering. There can never be too much brilliance on this website.

I freakin' LOVE this story, SO FREAKIN' MUCH. Like you have no idea, if it were a person, I WOULD MARRY IT.

I don't even have the words to express to you how awesome this is, and Shizuo and Izaya managing to interact realistically with each other in a non Shizaya fic? Truly a good find. Honestly, one of THE BEST DRRR fics I've read since joining this fandom. All the characters' personalities and reactions are dead on and so true to the original characters as Ryohgo wrote them.

This story seems to have it all, and pulls it off, all the incorporated mythical elements run so smoothly into the story, I especially love Masaomi's post-mask state (far too much). Honestly, you would make me the happiest person on the planet if a sequel were to be written.

This is hands down one of the best DRRR fics I've read... EVER.

I don't even really know what to say, you kept all the characters really IC, and the incorporated mythical elements and the emotions and the fighting were all very canon-ish.

I really hope you do a sequel, I would love to see more from you, as well as more of the mask-ified Masaomi

This may be empty praise coming from someone who could never write something remotely as intriguing and well-rounded as The Mercurial Mask, but I have to say it anyways. The well-defined characterization of EVERYONE in this story combined with the interesting plot and often hilarious dialogue really elevates this story. Reading every chapter has been a pleasure, and I want to thank you for writing such a great fic.

well first, i looove your story! it had a very good plot and was very well-written! although i'm happy with the overall storyline, it's also kinda depressing that it's over :( plz write a sequel! i'd look forward to see how mikado and everyone else develop.
