Doghead Thirteen chapter 3 . 11/3/2011 Y'know, I can see a Landy as being one hell of a useful vehicle for the Scoobs. It's very mobile, reliable, and tough as old boots - - back at the end of the Seventies my old man was involved in a head-on collision with a BMW while driving a Landrover. Well, the Beemer was a write-off, engine block pushed back kinda thing. Dad tied the Landy's front bumper to a tree, put it in reverse, backed off till Mum waved him to stop, and that was the Landy the same as before the crash... They go together like a fucking Meccano set too; it's possible to assemble a brand new Series 1 Landy from spare parts even today, unlike most vehicles' you don't need a barnload of tools to do so, and though it'd be cheaper to buy a complete vehicle you won't pay the Earth. The only thing that seems slightly off about this fic is the way Giles feels embarrassed about the kids insisting on him buying the Landy; looking at the pic you described that's not a 'Safari vehicle', that's a Farmermobile and Giles is going to be thinking the kids' are going to expect him to talk in a horribly stereotyped Cornish accent while driving it. Oo arr, Oi be driving me Landrover... Landrovers have a reputation as one of two things - something that spends most of it's life up to it's axles in cow shit, or something that spends most of it's life being shot at. Either way they're helluva fun to drive and tough almost to the point of being bomb-proof. Wonderful machines. Cheers, Cal. |
Respitini chapter 3 . 3/31/2011 Wonderful little story. Great fun to read - and I especially liked the "musical numbers" in chapter 2. |
