i absolutely loved this!

Hi, just wanted to say this story is really beautiful and follows Zuko’s journey in a new light. I totally ship Mai and Zuko and seeing how it might of been was really fun. It was a really enjoyable read and I’m glad that you were able to wrap it up nicely. Wish you well on any future projects :)

So it's been almost a decade since you've written this, but you telling me to write a review every chapter made me do it.
I really love your story for one reason, mainly. Mai has personality. She has flaws and experiences and just.. she's almost as interesting as Zuko! The show didn't do very well in this regard because it was a kids' show. And Mai's character is just too edgy for kids.
Anyway, you probably won't see this but I just felt like writing this for the sake of it. No reason actually.

Letting the rough rinos go was wrong. Think twice? No one who lives in the real world thinks like that. They will find their way to a firenation base and resupply. Then they'll be back. You can't spare people like that. You can't just let RAPISTS AND MURDERERS go on raping and murdering because you don't want to "sink to their level". Revenge IS wrong, but taking whatever measures to stop evil IS right. At the very least, life imprisonment. But honestly an execution would have been the just thing to do. That really upset me. Aang might be a pacifist, but letting those men go was almost as evil as the acts those men did.

Good story. I really enjoyed it, though the end seemed rushed. I understand writing fatigue, though. The important bit is that I had hours of entertainment reading this, and I thank you for that.

great story and great alterations. No one is too quick to accept Zuko as they should and it seems like he is more mature in your story which is also understandable with more of Iroh's guidance. I am sad to see it end here but none the less i feel like you gave it a satisfactory ending :) my only hang up with this story is that it feels like you are holding yourself back with the fighting scenes. If you ever edit this story or continue it don't be afraid to throw yourself really into it, it might be hard to relate to the fighting or making it original but none the less i feel you have the talent to do it even if it takes a little practice, i know myself how hard it is to write fighting scenes but none the less it would take your story from a if we use grade scale a B to an A in my oppinion.

"I figured that if I'm going AU, I might as well go really AU." Yes! I love it when authors do that. Making big changes ought to have big consequences! Really enjoying this story.
