I love all Hot Shot missing scenes fics and I thought I'd found them all. I was delighted to find this. It gave me everything I wanted to see but didn't in the actual episode.

I not only felt cheated from seeing Don's rescue but felt ESPECIALLY cheated that we didn't get a scene between Margaret and Don. (And then the creators said the following season that they'd fully dealt with her and didn't need to explore that anymore. Except they gave is NOTHING with her and Don, we have to settle for her asking Alan to "give my love to Don." Not good enough! Grrrr!)

You addressed all this really well. The scenes between Don and Margaret, and then later Don and Alan, were beautiful. It's a bit tough to have an emotional scene with Don and have it be in character, because he's so stoic and holds so much of those things in, but Don didn't read out of character at all.

Charlie and Alan being there for Don at the end of this eosidoe, and him letting them, is possibly my favorite scene in the series. I loved how you filled it out from where the show left off.

This is an excellent work. Really, really well done.

I read this final chapter very late on New Years Eve, soon to be New Years Day and I can't think of a better start than spending the moment with the Eppes family and the Numb3rs community.

Alan's taking Don's beer away from him was a nice little touch and the Alan as I think of him, doing what he thinks best for his son. His/your words about regret were beautiful, ..."life is full of regrets . . . things we did do and things we didn't". So true, so very true.

I can see why you cried. I'm with you - Don is entitled to a scene with his mother and did a nice job on it.

I was a little surprised at the beginning when Don apparently woke up at home but the dream with his mother explained it all.

When he actually woke up, it wasn't his mother waiting but his father. Not quite the same but it was family and who can ask for more.

Hot Shot was a great episode and I love to read different authors' take on the aftermath.

This chapter was a good start and I look forward to reading the other chapters . . . .

Great ending. Love Alan and Don together and Don's admission that he saw his mother was simply heartbreaking. And I loved how you wove it into the actual scenes from the show. This ending of yours would have improved the original episode a great deal. Thank goodness we have fanfiction writers like you to fill in where the series failed to deliver. Thank you.

I have to say that my favourite bit is probably Alan taking the beer off him. Made me giggle. Nicely ended.

I by passed this story many times for reason I do not know but I am so glad I took teh time to read it today this was a great addition to an already great episode. i always felt they left to much out of that episode.

"Can we have some more, please"? It would be really nice to continue from here, maybe with Don's feelings as the drugs took effect, or Don letting Charlie know that he saw his Mom and talked with her too... Anything you continue with, I'm sure it will add to this already great story! Thanks for this!

Just found this story and really liked it. I kind of get why Alan and Charlie saw Margaret and Don didn't - but I'm very happy that you gave him the opportunity!

I think that's exactly what Margaret would have said to him too. Also glad she didn't let him go with her!

I, too, am glad that you gave Don some time with his mother. He does need to be told that he is doing a good job more often.
