cax chapter 2 . 7/22/2014
This is a beautiful story. Despite the title, it has all kinds of emotions and elements a nice movie requires. I read this fic on my smart phone, 2 hours and more, nonstop. And even with my PC not available for typing right now, I could not resist the urge to leave a comment. So here it is.
The first thing that pop out of my head when I done reading, was that Alfred was such a child. Yeah, he did something regrettable, was upset about it, had learnt to pray, which was not bad, but then what? Nothing! Instead of trying to fix it like a man (ie getting to help people in troubles, taking part in social works or volunteering.. contacting Arthur, even), all he did was whined and cried and panicked and shit. After Arthur's confession, he didn't even put up his courage to face reality. He just threw the whole bunch of cruel facts and his apology at Arthur's face, leaving all the mess behind, hiding, avoiding, like a coward and waited hopelessly for a result to work its way through the process. This kind of negativity is far from what reasonable adult should obtain, let alone the herolic America I know, which is very disappointing.
However, I can totally understand Alfred's struggle here. Amazing how you made him so.. human. It's easy to see part of myself in his shivering eyes. Maybe this is the reason why I felt angry toward him. Maybe it's also reason why I enjoyed this story wholeheartedly as if it truly happened to some old friend of mine. Faced with weakness, people aren't always tough enough.
Arthur here is almost perfect. As in, doing the right-Arthurish things and saying the right calm words. He had a quiet atmosphere, sadness buried deep in his heart. When you look at him, you see a tired figure with elegant gestures, reluctantly distancing himself from the world, and it makes you wonder what have had occurred. I love your Arthur. You grasp the.. eh, British spirit? right on spot. XD
Again, beautifully written, good job! You are a talented writer. In spite of having different opinion about Alfred's character, I still read all your works and fully appreciated those sparks of genius between the lines. Please keep writing, you can bring something to others' heart.

My heart aches. Your way with words is just - it's magnificent. And the ending - the ending! Why am I so alright with letting your story tear out my heart?

Absolutely beautiful.

This is the sorta thing I need to read once in a while, slightly sad but a good ending that will not leave you in the depths of despair
Toni chapter 2 . 7/12/2013

CrimsonButterflyTearDrops018 chapter 2 . 8/10/2012
This is really beautiful. I never expected Alfred to be involved in Peter's death but yeah. I'm going through your stories right now and I must say you have this unique way of capturing the attention of the reader. Well done!
Anne Fatalism Dilettante chapter 2 . 8/6/2012
WHAT.

WHAT.

THE FEELS, OH GOD THE FEELS.

This was absolutely heart-wrenching. The way you brought the two boys together, the way you painted their anger, sadness and emotions - the pain, their forgiveness...

...It was beautiful.

It was so beautiful.

How? How did you manage to craft out a masterpiece like this?

I should so worship you from now onwards.
hetaliausuklover chapter 2 . 7/30/2012
SQUEE! Aww I love that last part with Peter waving! That totally adds feeling to it! (not that its not full of awesomeness already that is)
refdsz chapter 2 . 4/27/2012
Woah- goosebumps.

I cried.
Juura99 chapter 2 . 4/21/2012
This was simply amazing. It really, really was.

I knew that, when Alfred has that panic attack at first, that he was somehow involved with Peter's death. Whether he'd done it somehow, or was a witness I'm not sure...though, the way that he was involved came as a surprise. To know that he was blaming himself for not having tried to save him wasn't something I was expecting, but it worked perfectly, and somehow I feel it fits in with Alfred's character.

This was, as I said before, simply amazing and it shall a favourite. Thank you for writing it!
