This was such a sweet story. A friend found it fic diving and passed it along and I'm happy that she did. I love seeing some of the AU fics where Sirius is still alive and free after the death of Harry's parents and this was done very well. He is very typically shell shocked after the death of two of his best friends and totally unprepared for taking care of his godson but determined that he will do it for James and Lily's sake as well as Harry's. I love how Remus comes in and helps sort things in just a few minutes so that they can get back to the point of helping Harry. These two share so much love and I can see them breaking up a million times and ways, but personally, I still see them ending up together. It's great to see Harry responding so positively to Mooney's return. Shows they are supposed to be there as a family.

Firstly, let me say; it has become thoroughly difficult to find GOOD Remus/Sirius fic.

Secondly, I shall say that it was very, refreshingly easy to find this amazing, beautiful piece.

I will admit that I've never read anything where there's been some sort of AU and Sirius is taking care of Harry. You of course omitted that in your summary, so I was blindsided. Still, I loved it.

I've never been able to see Sirius and Remus staying together for too long, because while they're utterly perfect for each other, they're very different. I was worried this fic was going to go sad at the end, but I liked the fact that I was unsure, and then when they got together, I felt the feeling of elation and surprise.

The loss of James and Lily was poignant and palpable. I felt such pangs of sympathy for Harry, too young to truly understand what's going on. For Remus and Sirius, because the Marauders had always been so cocky and, of course, never considered that maybe one of them would /die/.

I also have a soft spot for children in fic, when they're well written. Harry in this is AMAZING. I have younger siblings, and your description was so spot-on. He was adorable and heart-breaking all at once, because while this one morning and probably the subsequent day was good and happy, you know they won't always be this way.

Just. Amazing. GAH. I also like how you just gave the bare minimum of details for the fallout between Sirius and Remus. Off to read more of your fic!
