This was honestly one of the best fics I’ve ever read. It felt as if it actually happened. It simultaneously felt like real life and like it took place in halo, and you made it work beautifully. The only critique I have is...*reads notes* umm... uh... well shit. I don’t have any.

I remember reading this story around 2011. I’d never really read much fanfiction before, no less something so cohesive and accurate, something that felt REAL within the universe itself.

I hope it doesn’t sound odd to say, but this story has always stuck with me. It’s affected the tropes I like, the automatic instances I think of when I think about romance (Gabby helping John clean up the house, when Gabby is sick and he takes care of her, when she sprains her ankle,,, need I go on?!) , and friendship... when I read the words ‘slow burn’ I think of this story every single time, and how masterfully you wove the relationships, how the emotions never felt contrived or forced, they were just fact. As real as my own.

This story inspired me in my own writing, which I’ve only been publishing online for about a year now, but I’ve gained a rather sizeable audience in that small time and I honestly, truly don’t think I’d be anywhere near where I am today without having read this work. You’ve updated it since I last had time to stop in and read, and I’m about to embark on a reread, but I wanted to first stop in and thank you, Razz.

I don’t know if you still write, fanfiction or otherwise, but please know that this work has such a special place in my heart...

Seems pretty good so far, but one tiny mistake is that the flood was completely classified by ONI; they said the covenant glassed africa as a coverup I believe

This was amazing. I actually laughed- not in a deriding way- when Gabby was too make formal wear. It makes sense and fit well just like all of the other elements of your story.

This was amazing! I don't really know what else to say besides the fact that I love Gabby's character and you got John's (as well as Spartan-II) personality perfectly! If you ever write another fic with John and Gabby in it I would love to see how John reacts to something as foreign as fatherhood.

Everything about this fic from the little things Gabby does and says to the faces John makes and the short sentences were what made it perfect! thank you for writing this!

I have read this story many many times. I think this is the 20th time possibly. I also think I have already placed a review but I must do so again. I think this story is great. It has great characters, a good pace, some action and a good romance even before the re-write. I have not followed or played any of the Halo games after the third one and for all intents and purposes I think this should have been the ending. I love the universe that Halo is placed in but it needs a proper ending. I will always consider this fanfiction the ending of that universe or atleast in the Master Chief saga. Thank you again for writing such a great story that always lifts my spirits reading, and sometimes I read it again just for the fun of it right after finishing it.
