Elanwye chapter 1 . 10/6/2013 ...I regret that I didn't discover Mass Effect until a few weeks ago, but I covet all the memories, even painful ones shared with our favorite Drell. Every moment feels irreplaceable now, to quote Shepard. I too am tired of living, too many things have happened in my life, and I am weary because of it; I imagine perhaps others feel the same way, and that may be partly the reason why we were drawn to the flickering flame that is Thane Krios. It's ironic, Shepard wakes him from his battle sleep, and we find ourselves woken up as well. At least, in my case. The world was so grey, for a very long time... Shepard's letter sums up the feelings of every emotionally attached fan, and otherwise. Wonderful work. |
Lum Lum chapter 1 . 4/21/2011 I don't know why I put off reading Thane FF for so long. I came here expecting the usual sexually explicit stories and smut and found an excellent piece of literature. It was touching in more ways than one. I did what you recommended and listened to the song 'Brothers in Arms' and I'm quite certain if I did otherwise the end result wouldn't have been as moving or as heart wrenching. I know it may be silly to be moved so much by the fictional writings of fictional characters but this just spoke to me on so many levels of so many different emotions. As I was reading I could feel my heart sinking and sinking down into the pit of my stomach, my teeth clenched, I could feel the shiver of remorse go down my back. The timing must have been perfect for me because I ended the song right at "Forever your Siha." and once I read "Shepard" my face swelled up in a fit of tears and I just wailed. My husband looked at me and must have thought I was crazy, but I wasn't I just saw myself in this Shepard's shoes. This fictional character that I read about for 5 minutes made me experience such sadness. So I tip my hat to you for this delightful and humble piece of work. I'm glad I saved this one for last because I believe this is the best one you've written. |
hadchan chapter 1 . 11/27/2010 That was deeply moving. I wouldn't recommend this (wonderful) letter to someone depressed : it would make one cries as though its heart would break ! I really appreciated the idea, which was, for my part, as an answer to Thane's own letter. I am sorry about my english, which isn't my first language, but I really wanted to thank you for this beautiful fiction. |
tgail73 chapter 1 . 11/7/2010 Great job on this letter. You succeeded in making me cry like a baby. |
drakontion chapter 1 . 10/25/2010 I didn't listen to the song, but I cried anyway. |
BelleInconnue chapter 1 . 10/24/2010 I just love your work, have from your very first post! You have my permission to continue to tear my heart out with your talent! Great work as always. |
Ryoko Metallium chapter 1 . 10/23/2010 I seriously cannot stop crying right now. That was so beautifully written that now I want nothing more than to actually have that in the game. It was perfect from beginning to end. I wasn't listening to "Brothers in Arms" when I was writing this (but I will during my next read), but I was listening "When You Come Back to Me Again" by Garth Brooks. Highly recommend it since it talks about a lost ship at sea finding its way home. Again, beautiful work |
Abyssal Ferret chapter 1 . 10/23/2010 Loved it. |
