Reviews for Iridescent
Bones2014 chapter 16 . 6/2
Wow. I'm blown away by this story. Completely amazed. Your take on my fav relationship has shed light & allowed some perspective on a turbulent time for every B&B shipper. You've captured them perfectly, especially from an emotional aspect. Guided us through the turmoil to arrive at that happy B&B happy ending I crave. And accomplished that in such a believable way. I truly enjoyed the journey. You possess a gift, a gift I'm glad you shared. As with all great stories, I can't read quickly enough to get to the end, but am so disappointed when it's over. That being said I was relieved when your indicated a sequel. I'm sad though, because I looked for the sequel you mentioned & didn't find it. Would loved to have had, & actually craved, more.

Hello! I just recently (yesterday) found your Bones Fan Fiction stories and just now finished reading the last one-Iridescent. I wanted to let you know how very much I enjoyed reading them...really everything about them. As I read, I could easily imagine thing on the page, playing out. In particular, in 'Iridescent' two scenes I thought were masterfully done: the first was when Brennan took hold of Booth's hand when confronted with his father, the second was the scene (fight!) between Booth and Brennan when he learned she was moving-I really liked that even though Brennan perhaps didn't intend to reveal all that she did, she really stood up to his 'assholeishness'. There are many others-not only in 'Iridescent' but in your other Bones stories as well. Though you likely do not have plans to move forward with a sequel to 'Iridescent', if you should decide to do so, I would definitely read it.

It’s from the x files second movie if I’m not mistaken

Okay... wow... let me tell ya, that was just amazing! You’re an amazing writer and this totally proved that. Your talent definitely shone in this. I think your deeper explanations into the actions and feelings of them was very spot on. Even though it didn’t happen in the actual show, all of this felt easily as if it could. I wish it did. Season 6 just broke (ahem, excuse me, crushed) my heart. Between the cringely sappy Booth and Hannah moments, to the sad and faraway looks and glances by Brennan, and the tensed and lacking partnerships between B&B, I was depressed. This totally fixed me feels, and I just imagine this in replacement and I feel better! Lol! I actually liked how you made Hannah bow out gracefully. It seemed more realistic really than if she had more of a rowdy exit. In the show, I do believe she is a really nice person, (as much as I’m wanting to hate her) and she’s not like a blonde bitch seeking to really hurt Brennan. She just doesn’t know any of their history and she’s just a free-spirited gal “in love” with her “soldier”. So in the show, if this did happen, I do see her leaving in an exit very similar to yours. Especially since in the show, she was the one who turned down the proposal (which should’ve never happened in the first place, damn you Booth). Anyways, great great great story, seriously one of my top favorites now, and sorry for the ranty-off-track kinda interlude there lol. I get into my reviews quite a bit if you didn’t notice ;)

This is possibly the sixth time I'm reading this story and this chapter never fails to break my heart every single time I read it. I completely believe that that Booth never felt actual 'in love' love for her and I actually think Booth himself didn't understand the depth of his own emotions till after Hannah. Jenlovesbones does a far better job of explaining it in her fic 'Public Opinion' than I can but the very fact that he didn't stay and fight for her in the 100th actually says a lot more about being ready than her. Of course one only has to look at his actions in S6 as further proof.

Here you have him tell Hannah that they can work things out, a desperate plea to hang on to something he knows is slipping, his grasp of the reality and the gravity of the situation with Brennan. He did the same thing on the show, by proposing. Your Booth however wins points because HE realized his mistake. He understood that he too played a part in what happened in the 100th and proceeded to make amends whereas tv Booth did jackshite and blamed Brennan for every damn thing he could think of.

While I'd have preferred Brennan to have been less of a doormat and let Booth grovel a bit longer, much like the kickass woman who socked Booth in for betraying her, I can understand that ED's real life pregnancy put a damper on that fantasy. In any case, I don't remember if I reviewed this. Wanted to let you know that I loved this story and particularly this chapter. Brilliant writing. Thanks for sharing and for reading this rant. :)

The soundtrack is The X-Files: I want to Believe. It is number 22 on the CD I have, just before Dying to Live by Xibit.

Lol, when my best friends mom was pregnant with her little brother, her family use to call him Cletus The Featus... That and I think a rock n' roll nickname.

I adore this story.

Thanks.

Interesting bit of work, to say the least.

I might have felt that Booth could have reacted slightly differently to Brian Perdue’s initial comment about why his wife couldn’t have left him- some kind of thought about how promising someone something when they reciprocate and trying to move on after a rejection aren’t the same thing-, but subsequent moments like Brennan’s interaction with Parker or her reaction to Hannah suggesting that the ‘squint squad’ go to the Checkerbox definitely made up for that.

I still think that Booth and Sweets’ confrontation about Sweets’s role in their original ‘separation’ should have been a bit more dramatic- Booth might have been ‘channelling his issues’ into Sweets to avoid facing his own responsibility, but the fact of the matter is that Sweets made an already complicated situation even more confusing for Booth-, but at least Hannah’s mistaken attempt at an apology made it clear to her that she was VERY out of her depth in her relationship with Booth (I just wish you’d followed up on her mistake; might have been interesting to see if Steven Booth actually HAD changed or if it was just initial intentions that didn’t work out), and Hannah’s final decision to leave was very neatly handled (In the end, as much as we might ‘want’ to hate her, her only problem was that she was with Booth when he should be dating Brennan; like Sully, once you got past who they were dating they weren’t exactly bad people).

And as for Parker’s innocent assumption that Brennan was his stepmother...

BEAUTIFUL, to say the least; I’d read this story for that scene alone (Although the last chapter with Booth and Brennan coming to a resolution about their relationship was still good, I assure you).

Keep up the great work!
