UPDATE THIS ONE AND YOU WILL MAKE MY YEAR! This is so adrorable and awesome and epic, you make me want to write a baby Glee fic so bad but I'd never do them justice like you do. Didn't Quinn go by Lucy at this age? Don't blame you if you left Lucy Caboosey out of your headcannon, it felt random anyway.

I love the introduction with Rachel and her dads. It helps now that we've seen canonically what Hiram and Leroy look like (even if the Pilot-episode screenshots were misleading), because it makes it even easier to picture the two of them. You've captured their personalities perfectly here. They fit seamlessly with what we know about them via the show itself, and I love that. Puck, too, was adorable. I love that you've included his mother here; it gives us a new glimpse into the Puckerman household that's usually scarce. The rest were sweet, but again, Artie and Kurt took center stage here.

Artie breaks my heart, because he's such a rambunctious kid and he loves to run around and play and of course this is the year that that will change forever for him. I can definitely see him as the type to just take off at recess and tear down the playground, wanting to try everything and do as much as possible in the limited amount of time that he has. It makes what awaits him all the more tragic.

And Kurt. Precious little Kurt that's so excited about third grade, unbeknownst to him that he'll lose his mother. I love the little Hummel scene at the end, but again, it makes it all very bittersweet, knowing what's to come.

I'm always so captivated by Kurt's story line, especially in his younger years. There are so many layers to his personality that can be explored, and I love that in each of your stories, you map out another faucet of his character. This one is no exception, given that Kurt is reminiscing about a dark time in his childhood. There are two distinct periods that stand out in Kurt's life: his mother's death and Karofsky's escalating harassment at McKinley. He's quiet during both times, in his own way, holding back his pain and avoiding the topics whenever possible. Seeing it brought up in front of the Glee club as a whole was interesting, because it shows how reserved Kurt really is when it comes to showing his emotions, even if he does come across as more emotional on the surface.

Still, it's heart-wrenching to remember that there was also a time in Artie's life before he was confined to a wheelchair. It's almost easy to forget that he wasn't always a paraplegic; his ease with his current situation exudes confidence, so seeing that waver is the equivalent of Kurt quieting at the mention of his mother. It's different from his normal reaction, and it unveils another part of his character that, like Kurt, we rarely get to see.

I love how you've paralleled them here. It's interesting to read and I enjoy the contrast, especially since both events took place in the same year. Well done.

Ok so I really love this story but I'm in my senior year of High School and so are the Glee kids. So, with this in mind, I went to the third grade in the years of 2002 - 2003, but other than that I really love this.

Caitlin I love this story and would love more! I should really get some sleep now but I plan on continuing to read this verse the first chance I get! :)
