That was, *sniff* beautiful. They both need to handle their grief, and this was the perfect to cope with the fact that they had lost the boy they loved. Here, have a well deserved cookie.

It's highly believable that Hiccup's death would bring Toothless and Astrid much closer; a common gried creates a common bond, something that cannot be broken through the loss of someone who was loved.
