I keep coming back to this fic. It's always on the back of my mind whenever I read about Ginny and flying in the same sentence.
bye123456789 chapter 1 . 6/25/2015
This was a good fic. I liked how we got to see Harry/Ginny after the war because before reading this, I more or less assumed that they just wrapped up well and easily. But now that I think about it, this makes more sense. I like the insight we get into Ginny’s mind and character. And Charlie too. Charlie was wonderful. The Ginny/Charlie sibling bonding was lovely. I also smiled at the idea of all the Weasleys threatening Harry and telling him to get it together with Ginny.
I like how Ginny learns how to fly again before Harry comes back – like she had to be sure of herself again before she could get into a relationship. And the Harry/Ginny, once it finally happened, was really sweet.

This was lovely - I loved how you wrote Ginny.
hawkeyeforever chapter 1 . 6/20/2013
Amazing! You really captured Ginny's character. Happy Writing:)
that lionhearted vagabond chapter 1 . 2/3/2013
You write Harry/Ginny?

How did I not know this? How is it possible for me to not know this?

Harry/Ginny is my OTP, my fucking OTP, and, and, and this story is why. Because Harry's messed up and Ginny is fierce and I strongly believe in small simple tattoos (alright, the latter doesn't have much to do with why I ship Harry/Ginny but was phenomenal regardless).

Harry's obsession with Hungarian Horntails was interesting, I will have to find a story about dragon chasing Harry (which should exist because this sight has dragon chasing everyone else).

Ginny not putting up with Harry's refusal to talk was quintessentially Ginny and I appreciate reading something that shows her kick assness, really I do.

So thank you.
Sorcerer's Muse chapter 1 . 11/21/2012
I really liked this. I like that you set out and took your time and didn't let them rush back into each others arms. It was all nicely done.
FollowThisRhythm chapter 1 . 5/14/2011
(HEY! IT CUT ME OFF WHEN -I- WAS CUTTING OFF AND I SWEAR THAT I STILL HAD ROOM! Honestly. How rude.)

12. (cont.) HAS BEEN SHATTERED, JENNY! WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME SO? Oh, it's a good thing that I like angst so much. But I just feel so badly for Ginny. :( I can't remember the last time I wanted to hit Harry so much, either! He needs to get his head on straight, doesn't he? He's causing misery that doesn't even need to be there.

13. You know, I'm not sure what I should think about Harry's reaction when Ginny tells him she wants to, and will, spend it with Charlie (which will take her away from him and everyone else). He was just so blank and almost neutral about it; I'm really dying to know what he was thinking and feeling when she said that, and what he would have been after when they had separated and he was by himself and had time to himself (because he would of course be thinking of her more than he wasn't). I can just imagine though.

14. OH, HARRY, WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE? I CAN'T STAY MAD AT HIM! Not when he does such darling things like blush (squeeeee!) and give her advice because it will make her mum (/him, aha) feel slightly better about it all. Oh. So adorable. I love him, I really do, and I adore how firm Ginny was in her parting; telling him that they'd be talking when she got back and leaving no room for questions. Plus, the brief line or so with McGonagall was just awesome; she always was one of my favourites. :)

15: CHARLIE! Ooooh, yay! The first time I read this, I was just so excited to because I've never read anything about him before and I never really paid much mind to him in the books either; not because I didn't like him, but he was just hardly there, y'know? Goodness, though, the banter between him and Ginny is just, ahaha, so good. Seriously. So amusing and light and natural - all of you dialogue is though, of course, so I suppose it isn't a surprise that it is here, too, now is it? ;)

16: The little bit about Fred (and George). Ugh. That just ... the whole topic just crushes my heart, and has my stomach and chest clenching with unease. It's so unfair that he, along with SO many others, died and I wish so much that he didn't and I was a teary mess when I first read DH and got to the final battle - God, it was just so shattering and impacting and I've always shuddered away from even -thinking- about how the Weasleys would have dealt with his passing because I knew it would be horrible and awful and, goodness. Especially for Fred. I just can't imagine what it would feel like to lose a person who knew you, -knew you-, inside and out and like the back of their hand and probably even better than you knew yourself, you know? They were always together and their bond was so great and - Ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

I honestly don't think I'd be able to really touch upon that subject, I can't imagine doing so or writing something that would blatantly address it because I'm just sappy and really weak, so the fact that that you have, even briefly here and there, is just, well, wonderful really. Definitely admirable in my opinion!

17. She is taking her coffee black, is she? Now, I wonder who THAT reminds me of ... ;)

18. (In case you can't tell, I'm writing this as I read, which is probably why it's so messy and random and lousy and I apologize for that, but I just thought it'd be nice to get my thoughts down directly as I have them.)

19. Oh, gosh, I burst out laughing at Christopher's reaction when Charlie said Ginny was dating Harry, ahahahaha. I imagine that's how most people -would- act, though. I sort of feel bad for both of them; they're really never going to catch a break. (Also, also, on that vein: Charlie's friends have all been so likable and amusing so far. I generally dislike OC's, no matter how big a part they play or how small, but no matter who the person is or why they're there or anything else, yours always, always rock, and I'm so jealous of that ability of yours to make them so continuously fantastic because while I feel like I can more or less pin down known characters, I can not for the life of me make a believable OC. Never. Yet, with you, it just comes across as so effortless; each one is always so real and so enjoyable and so fantastic to read, and rather than being annoyed when one of them comes up and wanting to skip ahead because I feel like I could be reading something so much better having to do with the canon characters, I just thoroughly and completely am contented to read yours.)

20. Ugh. Ugh, ughhhhh. I am sitting here (still reading) in absolute awe of your writing trying to figure how it's possible for it all to be so LOVELY? And the flow, gosh, I know I already hit on this already, as I have in every other review that I've given you and even through conversation, but honestly, this is just ridiculous. Everything that happens just feels so -vivid- to me, you know? And it's just moment after moment flitting through my mind like memories (which aren't even mine, obviously, and which I've never even had or exist but still feel so TANGIBLE despite everything all the same) and Aldgnklsadnfladb;jga. You're too brilliant for your own good, Jenny. I feel like there is still so much I have to learn when I look at and read and admire your stuff, and just so beyond honoured and flattered and STUNNED that you could ever find something about my own that you like when you have talent LIKE THIS and the fact that THIS IS MINE, and that you have GIVEN IT TO ME is just - mind-boggling and humbling and so incredibly, unbelievably unreal amazing and. Ugh. Basically, long story short: I fangirl over your work (which you probably already know) and I love your writing so, so, so much, so much more than I could ever say.

21. Oh, my god. That part between Ginny and Charlie when they're looking down that cliff and she's crying and this is all said:

"All of this," she told him. "You have all of this…and you'll never forget."

"Forget what?"

"That the world is worth it."

Oh, JENNY. Jenny, Jenny, Jenny. That is so ... Oh, my god. That is SO beautiful and so perfect and so MOVING and there are tears perched on my eyelids and a knot inside of my throat just because there is something so inexplicably pure and complete and, and I don't even have words, I don't. I can't find a way to explain how it makes me feel. It's so powerful and so bright and glowing and one of the most poetic (I can't think of another more fitting word) things I've read on this site in a long while.

22. Ginny with her broom - trying to figure herself out and find her place and get her ability back to ride it: I love it. I love, love, love it. She's so faltering and kind of reluctant and angry and broken about it all and I really love this, I do. She's lost but she's on the way to finding herself and it's just so wonderful.

23. The tattoos. The fucking tattoos. Oh,goodness. I happen to absolutely love the things myself, although whether or not I'll ever find anything meaningful to print onto my skin I don't know, but the idea of Ginny and Charlie getting one with Fred's name, so simply too, just - Oh, I could cry! It's so touching. So sweet. And so sad at the same time as well because it just makes it all feel so much more REAL. Like, I mean, of course he's gone, I know that and you know that and -everyone- knows that, but there's something so final about it, I can't even. Just, what a -brilliant- idea!

24. I adore Charlie in this fic, and I've never adored him or even felt anything but indifference for him before, and you're a genius and your characters are flesh and bone creations and your words are exploding stars, okay?

25. AAAHHHHHH! I've died. Jenny, I've died, I swear. Oh, I'm SO happy! HARRY'S BACK and HE'S HERE TO SEE GINNY and oh, oh, oh, his "I couldn't start off the New Year without talking to her," just makes me -MELT-. And Ginny's reaction and his confession and she telling him that he can fly again and, asjnskdfjabsjkfbaklsj;fs. My brain is, like, imploding right now or something, I swear. Oh, this is so gorgeous and -ethereal- and strikingly honest and meant-to-be and the epitome of perfection, honestly. I love them so much right here, it's unreal, but you have this ability to make me adore them so much more than I already do. Ugh. And I know that you've told me that you don't like your endings usually or think you do them well or whatever rubbish, but you are SO wrong because this is just divine and flawless and I can just see this, I can, and gosh. Gosh, gosh, gosh.

Basically, I'm just ... Jenny, I am so in awe of you. You write like a pro, you weave tales that are so genuine and fantastic and lovely and wonderful and mind-blowing, and the fact that I know you, that you've DEDICATED THIS to ME (Me! Of all people!) I just, I don't have words and I can't help repeating myself again and again because this is what your work does to me! There aren't many people who can pull off Ginny and Harry, but both of their characters are so spot-on and Harry is just ADORABLE and bumbling and everything that he should be, while Ginny is SO fiery and 3D and strong but weak in all of the right ways, too, and it's impossible not to love her, really.

I don't know how I'm supposed to thank you (or apologize for how long this has taken!) properly because there aren't any existing words to express how this has made me feel (not to mention that I only have 350 characters left!), but I hope that you can see what I haven't been able to find words for from the ones that I have.

THANK YOU. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you SO FUCKING MUCH because I love THIS and I love YOU and the fact that you took the time to write this for me just - I'm more touched than I have been in forever.

THANK YOU! xxxxxxxx

(PS. And I'm -so- sorry that I haven't been able to get yours done yet, either! I'm a total failure. :( But I promise that, as soon as I can, I'll get it
FollowThisRhythm chapter 1 . 5/14/2011
So. I am pathetic and horrible and utterly deplorable for not having reviewed this already (but, if it helps at all, I've read it again and again and again, and my mind has been BLOWN every single time and I've fallen more deeply in love with it with each read) but I've MEANT to! Honest. :( I'm so, so, SO sorry!

Perhaps a nice, long review will remedy this (awful) wait just a bit ...? /wiggleseyebrows

(Yes, I've sunk so low as to bribe you.)

BUT, I'm not here to make an ass out of myself (just know that I'm on my knees begging for forgiveness!)so I'll carry on with the actual review:

Jenny. Jenny, you darling, you genius and inspiring and lovely girl: HOW is it -possible- for you to write like this? HOW is -possible- that your words could make me ADORE these two SO much? Even more than I already had! I'm pretty sure that the level of love I hold for these two is, well, insane and unhealthy and everything, but this is so completely gorgeous that I don't even, and can't even, care. I just ... goodness.

1. Every time I see my name (and Filter right beneath it!) at the top of this masterpiece, I die a little on the inside (as I usually do when I find myself faced with your prowess).

2. That first line (and the line after, and every single one following, for that matter, but I digress). Oh, my God. Holy shit. THAT is the mother of all first lines! THAT is what first lines everywhere aspire to be! (Yes, like a goal or dream.) Honestly. It just ... wow. It is so strikingly beautiful, so intense, and every single letter is GINNY, to the core. She's so strong, and really blazing like Harry has said, I think, (even if it wasn't shown all that well in the actual series, it's one of those things you just have to elaborate on and flesh out, you know?) and you captured that so -perfectly-. And in the FIRST LINE. Jenny. I can't even. It just JUMPS OFF OF THE SCREEN and sticks with you and you're brilliant, basically, okay?

3. Ahahahahahaha. Ohmygod. Those damn Canadians, eh? (That part provides endless amusement for me, just so you know.)

4. They aren't together and Harry's being an absolute idiot (but so very -Harry-, of course, all the same) and WHY DO I STILL LOVE HIM! 3: But, that said, I can totally see this happening. As I just said, this is such an unbelievably Harry-like thing to do, to kind of try to just push them and their relationship to the side (ignoring it and being so adamant about pretending, for a time, that there's nothing to talk about/ that it never existed) and drop hints that Ginny should be around someone worthier (the dumbass) but sulk about it, sort of, all at once, you know? He's so stubborn and moody, and that coupled with Ginny's personality is where I could definitely see them clashing if the moment was right, you know? (Or if the moment was 'wrong', I suppose would be more precise, but still.) Not that that's really a BAD thing, per se. I mean, of course we don't want them at odds, but Ginny has always come across to me as really headstrong (like him) and rather relentless when she sets her mind on something (or maybe that's just how I've pictured her since writing her, I don't know), so if there was ever anyone who would be able to break down his walls, etc., it's definitely her. And he REALLY needs that. Right now she just seems really bothered and resigned (and for good reason), but one thing that I love is that, despite of that, she's not pushing the matter. And, I know, what am I talking about, right? That's not a good thing, but let me explain.

One of the things I've always marveled at when it comes to their relationship is how accepting (/tolerating) she is of Harry. Like, when he broke up with her after the funeral to try and protect her as much as he could while he set out to defeat, or be defeated by, Voldemort - I mean, if she were any other girl, then she have cried or made a fuss or begged and pleaded for him not to do it and not to go or just would've been long gone, you know? She probably wouldn't have been able to handle being Harry Potter's girlfriend, or even associated with him at all. But Ginny just took it all in stride; needless to say that she didn't like it, but she was willing to step aside and she was willing to wait and she was ready to be strong (and not just for him but for herself and for everyone else, but still) while he was gone and until he came back, you know? She understood him, and whether or not she liked it, she let him do what he needed and just continued to stand by his side, and that's kind of what she's done here, too.

Harry must just be driving her crazy, obviously, but she's still not pushing it. Despite the reason, whether it's just because she's angry or too hurt or just can't figure out what to say when he's being so inflexible, the point remains and I REALLY love that here. :)

5. The little bit of Ron/Hermione was just -wonderful-, I have to say. I've never actually read anything on them, because while I do like them and adore them together I've just never had the desire to, but I've caught so many things on like fanfiction/tumblr lately going on about how they are opposites and entirely incompatible and that Rowling was off her rocker to even THINK of putting them together and it's just INFURIATING. Yes, they are very different people, but I think that even though they clash (so often) because of their characters, they still compliment each other in a lot of ways, too. Like, Hermione urges him to -work- and to get an incentive, etc., while Ron, simply put, makes her -smile-, you know? And Ron is too, well, not lazy, exactly, but I can't think of a fitting word so I hope you know where I'm going there, and Hermione much too strict, sometimes, as well, and I don't know. Do you see where I'm going? Maybe it's just me, but I think that no matter how much they argue and the like, they really are a wonderful match.

(I can't believe I just wrote that much when there were only there for, like, a couple of lines. /blush)

6. Anyway: Ginny pulled away from Harry. I don't blame her, of course, I would be just as frustrated and exasperated and uncertain, etc., but still. ;_;

7. Ugh. Your writing. Describing their emotions as 'taboo', for example, is just so ... PERFECT. So -right-, here anyway, with how you've portrayed everything, and it's just so incredibly heartbreaking and captivating and divine. End of.

8. Ginny telling Harry not to promise her anything (especially about Quidditch). Just, wow. That physically -hurt- and I could SEE it and the words just seemed to shudder and ache as I read them; they just came across as so substantial, so ...RELATIVE to them, because of how everything has been playing out, and because of the fact that Harry just won't TALK and Ginny is being made to just sit there, after everything, with all that she's feeling and thinking, and all that she's felt and thought, whirling around inside of her. He's just so daft sometimes. I don't think he clearly understands emotions, at least the ones of others, and maybe it's because of the first eleven years of his life (how he was constantly either ignored or treated with mockery and disdain), that made it so his own were sort of dulled, you know? Which would have carried on to how he perceived others. But that's definitely one of his greatest faults, I think. He just hasn't ever sincerely grasped the fact that what he says and does can REALLY hurt certain people, because he doesn't realize how much they CARE for him.

But, yeah. Maybe I just think that? Either way, I don't blame her at ALL for getting so angry with him. Really, he's all but asking for it!

9. "Dark circles made his eyes seem brighter than usual, he was clearly exhausted, and okay, Ginny realized, Harry had had a miserable life. She shouldn't have expected Voldemort's death to signal the beginning of her fairytale. She shouldn't have expected a fairytale at all." LOL Oh, my gosh. I feel horrible for laughing at the "and okay, Ginny realized, Harry had had a miserably life", but Ginny is just SO unintentionally funny there.

However, that's another thing I just LOVE - love, love, love, - about your writing: Aside from it ALWAYS flowing so well, being so incredibly emotive and beautiful and descriptive, there is always, always something just really sort of whimsical and REAL and witty to it. It's so lyrical but not, because at the same time your writing always gives me the feeling that I'm inside of the characters head, or that their thoughts, uncensored and without embellishment, are being DIRECTLY transferred from their minds as they roll through, and down onto paper (or screen, whatever). And it's magnificent. A lot of the work from other writers either gives me the sensation that I'm just reading words, others that I'm there watching the scene, etc., but with you it's like I'm INSIDE OF THEIR HEAD and it's amazing, pure and simple. You're so awesome.

10. "He took silences as assurances and words as betrayals." Oh, Jenny. This is ... This is just magic. This is stunning. Every single letter is so glowing and striking and honest and gorgeous and I just love it so much, you have to know.

11. The whole Quidditch bit, with her disconnection with the sport and her broom and even the air when she's so up high in it, is just really ... Ugh. I don't even have words. It's just so incredibly sad and heart-wrenching, and Ginny is so clearly NOT okay but Harry (of course) just keeps smiling and smiling and assuring her that everything will go just fine, that nothing is amiss, and his attitude towards that just runs parallel towards his current attitude towards THEM and that's probably the most depressing thing of all. Poetic, too, in a soft and subtle way.

But :(

12. Oh God. Gryffindor losing and Ginny throwing Harry's words back at him (so brokenly!) and she denying his comfort and her crying: Oh, my goodness. MY HEART

(Aaaaand I've ru

Sorry I can't be bothered to login, incredibly lazy I realize.

But why I'm reviewing is because you're work is brilliant. I don't normally read many HarryGinny stories because often they're all quite bad. But this wasn't bad in any sense. I loved your characterization of Ginny and the dynamic between her and Charlie was fantastic. I could go on forever but I just thought you'd like to know I loved it!

Keep writing!

BRAVO!

This a must read for those sick to the too easy, too soon, too wonderful post DH stories. It has a well rendered sense of melancholily, longing and desire.

The Ginny and Charlie moments are beautiful. The austere winter landscape of Romania is almost a third character.

Best wishes,

Feff

I did not like the way Harry had been avoiding talking to Ginny about "them" so was really glad her brothers/dad gave him the much-needed talking-to! Very sweet ending with their very early a.m. New Years ride! Would've liked more kissing, but that's just me. Thanks for writing!
iMissHP chapter 1 . 10/18/2010
wow, just wow! I adore it. Your Ginny is so fragile yet so strong minded, it's impressive. I really adore the pace of your story and how quickly it caught me. I couldn't stop reading. It's really brilliant.

I have to admit that my favourite part is when she arrives in Romania. It's like the story really starts there. Charlie's character was amazing too and really what Ginny needed there.

Amazing job! I don't really like H/G usually but here I loved it!

Amazing job!
