Yep. Totally hot. Wow. I find it unbelievably sweet how much she ‘likes’ him. We know how much she will grow to love him, but she doesn’t yet. Instead she likes him very much and is attracted to him. I think that’s so sweet. If they were in love here that wouldn’t seem realistic. Well maybe they are, but what wouldn’t seem realistic is that I don’t think they have the self awareness to realize it.

And how she can’t handle getting pregnant by him she can’t deal with it. And we know it will happen three times, and 2/3 of the time, the consequences witll be GREAT. I love how from start to finish in this story we knowmore than the characters do.

I think I alsways assumed that his thing about not making promises (what he says to Jimmy) was somehow guilt over Clem/Cass, but I think from this chapter and the last it is bc he wasn’t ever able to get Juliet back to her right time. But she has absolved him of that (when she’s said she’s glad . .. in the hotel after Rachel wedding)

Awww. He promised her he’d get her back to the right time. Just like he told Jimmy never to make promised he can’t keep.

I think throughout this story you’ve done such a good job of showing how they live this normal life in the suburubs with kids and it’s all very happy but right under the surface they are so scared it will get ruined. This New Year’s was really all about that and I could see how that happens, you get busy with your life and just force that aside but there are times when you can’t. Also, like that their way of dealing with it is sex! LOL.

The 1980 Olympic Opening Ceremnoies were the day before Jimmy was born? Is that true? That is awesome. Is it why you made him like hockey so much?

Miles is right about so many things, including the teenagers thinking James is a fuddy duddy.

Ha! Ghost. How perfectly perfect. Because of the connection to Miles and the fact that it seems an awful lot like what happened on the show, but what didn’t happen here so that Rachel thinks it’s ridiculous and over the top, and of course the whole story is “Ghosts of LA.” So, perfect. And unchained melody is about time. LOL.

James and Juliet both get irritated at their kids “smart mouths” from time to time. Heh. Wonder where they got it from/learned it?

Rachel and Jimmy both assume James knew Clem. Their dad is so different from Sawyer.

It makes me so happy they planned Jimmy. I know it is more dramatic and such that Rachel was unplanned, but I like this way too. It is sweet and lovely and romantic.

Awwww. Clementine. I like reading everything from her POV. It would be confusing!

It is immature of me to enjoy reading Kate come to grips with what she could have had, and seeing how much better Juliet is for him than she would have been. But good on her for stepping up to help here. “amazing how uch your perceptions can change in two short weeks.” Uh huh.

Great how Cassidy is reading him the riot act and her situation (all except the very important way it turned out) exactly mirrors Juliet’s, so that Juliet is emotional and won’t look at James. Then how she refers to Kate getting her to turn him in so that KATE is emotional and won’t look at him. I like that because those two are lost in their heads, that James actually does have to deal with this himself. I almost wrote deal with this “alone,” but Kate and Juliet are THERE for him, just not 100%. If that makes any sense.

The time travel always seems the least shocking thing to everyone in this story. For cass that Sawyer would put money in a trust, and that he would mature and settle down. The people that new him before find the new (old) version the shocking thing and the people that know him now (Rachel and Jimmy) find the old criminall version the shocking thing. And really only Juliet and Miles know both versions.

My lord, Sawyer/James is *SUCH* a good dad, I could just die. DILF SAWYER?! YES PLEASE.

LOL James explaining about how sex works, how you might start feeling around girls, etc. Listen up, Jimmy, you are listening to the master! And it seems like he got allllllll the lessons James was giving him. BC he is sexy but also decent. J&J did a great job. Good work!

And I want to know what happened with the Porsche poster. The replacement Juliet bought is still on the door in their LA house (yes, I am anal about this story), so what did Jimmy do with the babalicious one?

Jimmy’s conversation with James in h.s. is sooooooo Juliet. The obvious bit where he says he just stays calm and stuff, but even the way he answers. He’s learned well from observing her too.

This is the first time the Rachel names tripped me up. At first I thought Lauren was referring to calling Rachel L because they ar friends or at least cousins-in law.

“Just a week.” In Tahoe. LOL, Jimmy, good work, just like your papa.

She went for Thornbirds. Which Juliet had to put down so Jimmy could be conceived. ;-) and also they have Louis L’amour novels there, which JAMES had to put down so Rachel could be conceived. Book lovers, ahhhhh.

Even afer everything has sunk in for Jimmy, it’s still the personal things (they have a sister) that get to him more than the time traveling things.

I felt like the last chapter filled in all the blanks that needed to be filled in (her leaving Dharma, Jimmy’s name, James telling about the stocks, etc.) so that I can’t believe I FORGOT THEIR FIRST HOOKUP! HOTTTT! Hotter than anything else yet in this story bc . . . I don’t’ know why. The Jeep sex was pretty hot, but somehow was also written humorously maybe bc by thte time the story came all the way out it was a punchline for Miles’ jokes? And when he came back to the mainland that first time was also kind of hot and very sweet and loving. This here is just about repressed sexual desire though, and in and of itself is hot and since we know it is going aaaaaaallllllllllllll the way (like all the way to being grandparents all the way), that’s extra hot to me.

And Valentines. It’s not lost o n me that that is Jimmy’s birthday. Speaking of, I guess that’s one thing we’ll get to read about?

I’m sure Joyce is perfectly nice, but Jason and Heather LaFleur would have nothing on Jimmy and Rachel LaFleur. James talking about how you can’t put one over on kids and yet he managed to do it with Jimmy and Rachel, which I think means he wasn’t putting one over on them. By the time they came around, he was who he was.

This chapter was nothing more than filling in blanks on stuff we already knew, but I loved it anyway. How did Juleit quit the DI? When did she start doing their stocks? How did Jimmy get his name? ETc. I love that Miles can’t guess she’s pregnant, and when he does figure it out, he assumes its on accident. I love that we see their house picture that Rachel showed Rachel.

Their realtor Carole? This reminded me of my gay cousin. She has a partner and a kid and lots of times when she’s out with her daughter, people will make assumptions about ‘what does your husband do?’ she must look like her dad, etc. I imagine that happened to J&J a lot, too, people just going ahead and assuming they were alive for WWII, weren’t time travelers, etc. And good thing she didn’t arrive after 1981, that remark about a third baby. James probably woud have beaten her up.

His dream. Guh. And “I had a life.” Oh, I’m so glad your story fixed this bc he did have a life and it got RUINED and here it not only didn’t get ruined it got BETTER and I’m almost mad at the show for doing that and ‘killing’ Jimmy and Rachel who aren’t even REAL and their parents aren’t rEAL either.

And he’s fighting crying again. I’m going with this is totally on purpose.

In the last chapter Rachel C asked what happened to her, and Juliet said “what happened is a long story.” And here jUlian asks what happened to her little boy and she says “Nothing happened, he just grew up.” I hope this isn’t coincidence, I hope you meant to put those lines in there because we’ve been reading all along about “what happened” and “what happened happened” in those chapters and the Days of Their Lives ones. And in the once sense “long story” is exactly right. A whole practically novel, but it’s also true to say “nothing happened, he just grew up,” because that is true to.

Nobody says it here, but jimmy alludes to it: that sad picture of Rachel and Juliet at the 1979 Christmas their parents were divoricing is the counterpart to the one Rachel showed Rachel already where little Rachel isn’t looking at the camera and Juliet is pregnant with Jimmy.

He (James) says he couldn’t get Rachel back for Juliet, but in a way, he did. He’s the one who (helped) raise Rachel (the other one). He’s the one that made her realize the importance of family, and yes, she’s the one who forced the issue and got Juliet & Rachel back together, he deserves some credit for who she is to do that.

They are (both) slowly coming to grips with all it means to live in the past and it totally makes sense it would take Juliet longer to do that. She has oodles more to go back for.

This isn't the first time i've noticed it in your story . . . things about James crying or not crying and I wonder if that is a subtle dig at Jack or just a coincidence. Pretty sure Jimmy said he'd never seen his dad cry before, and lots of time from the James POV, James tries very hard not to cry, even in front of hte people he knows most. And the one time he did cry in front of Juliet (that we saw) it made him very uneasy. Just wondering.

I like the description about how Rachel C hovers over their lives, while in the present time he's just met her.

The sister reunion did not disappoint. I’m guessing, I mean it has to be, right? That neighbor Lauren is Jimmy’s Lauren. If you are just using the name again, that is cruel.

I love grown-up Rachel L’s description of her dad. It really fits in so well with what we knew of her as a child. She still gets the ways he is ‘embarrassing’ or ‘annoying’ (to his daughter, at least): the nicknames and bad grammar and grumpiness, but now that she is a mature adult she can also see past all that to see how much he loves her mother and what a good dad he was, etc. And yet his past still confuses and saddens her.

I’m glad he feels like he deserves the good life, and even more, the story makes it seem like he does. I think a lot of people thought Sawyer didn’t get what was coming to him, esp killing that guy in Australia, but I feel like he’s put in a good, productive and honest life and changed who he is better than a stay in prison could have done and isn’t that the point? Rehabilitation?

None (well nearly none) of us would be here if our parents didn’t have sex, and our grandparents and etc. And everyone like to BECOME grandparents, but that means (usually) your kids have to have sex AND IT IS ALL OF IT SO GROSS, and I love how squicked out all the characters in this story get over it. When I find all of them (even the new, made-up ones like Jimmy who I can only imagine in my head) as being so sexy!

Their family made them too busy to catch this important crazy island thing. Sweet.

James should stop imagining what would have happened if they were at the Swan site. RIGH T NOW.

We find out that he now believes he deserves the good life and that she is fine with having lived in the past. The story could end here, and I would be happy, but it doesn’t and I’m glad

I like the fight they have where he says he’s leaving and call in 13 years when she needs $ for braces. I think bc it is obviously clear to both of them and not just someone with a knowledge of the future that they are frustrated and ill sorts. You can’t have that kind of argument “See you in 13 years!” with someone you aren’t sure of.

At first I thought the story break was a f forward and the Rachel waiting for te bus was Rachel L and the baby was school age and this was a flashforward and I wondered why her mom (Juliet) would call out “Girls!” and it was a paragraph or so after I was ike ooooooooh. And YAY!

Rachel is the new ghost of Juliet on Rachel c’s front proch. Love it.

Later the ‘tea thing’ reminds Rachel l of her mom. And wasn’t Jimmy thinking his mom would make Kate tea. I love how this story weaves together! Good manners and soft words, what Juliet and Rachel’s dad told them and Jimmy and Rachel’s mom told THEM. LOVE.

Yes, she did get to see Saturday Night Fever in the theater! She went with Miles and James on NYE. I could answer that one.

OK here is maybe the best ever thread I’ve caught. I bet I’m missing others. It seems really early that the Daphne woman with the inappropriate shirts was first introduced and that seemed just a throw off or a joke, but then they went to the hockey game and that was what made Juliet use that name on the crank call which just seemed like a convenient thing to say but THEN that is the name Rachel remembers and makes her sort of believe Rachel L. AMAZING

Family is wonderful and when it is good it is amazing. Juliet and James were always there for their kids. Now it is her daughter who brings her back to her sister.

This is one chapter I had to skip ahead and read or skim the next part of this fphase of the story.
