Reviews for Breaching Walls
Msdib chapter 30 . 9/9/2019
Great story. I like it when Gibbs is nice and the team was supportive.

Apparently, I've already reviewed multiple chapters of this story and I can't review a chapter twice but I wanted to leave another note. I favorited this story 7 years ago and it's still one of the best stories I've ever read in any fandom. Brilliant plot and writing, just incredible.
MidwestDreamer chapter 30 . 6/10/2017
Definitely a mass of mixed feelings regarding this one...but I think that's due mostly to my not wanting to believe Tony could/would do something like this, and yet recognizing on a more rational level that, with the backstory of horrific abuse you outlined, it's surprising he didn't do it sooner.

I think this story takes canon- and my own head canon- and shifts them slightly on their respective axes. There is the part of me that wants to protest, much as Tony did, that no one on Gibbs's team would ever even think about tampering with evidence. However, your decision to move the timeline forward so that the team learned about the murders of Shannon and Kelly, coupled with Gibbs's confession regarding Hernandez, provided solid ground for how everyone reacted in the face of Tony's assault on Landry. Because *everyone* was just slightly out of character (as least in terms of canon), the premise and execution worked spectacularly well. In particular, the steps you had Tony take to alibi himself and to cover up what he'd done were brilliantly crafted...and the ending, with Tony remembering the dotted b's, made me sit back and utter a heartfelt, "Whoa...!"

While I definitely accept an abusive childhood as part of Tony's backstory, having him go vigilante is a bit outside my personal comfort zone. That said, while much darker in tone (imho) than the rest of your works in which you've explored Tony's past, I thought this was extremely well done...and very thought provoking.

This was just amazing. I didn't expect the twist at the end.
Holy crap...

May Eve chapter 30 . 12/1/2015
This fic is fantastic and a headache-inducing mindfuck. Thank you for sharing.
supersherlocked1529 chapter 29 . 9/16/2015
This story was amazing! I loved it so much, there are no words for it.
One thing I didn't understand (I guess I must have missed it), what is the thing about the tiny dots in the b in the diary entry you mentioned in the last chapter? There must have been something earlier on, but I must have overlooked it. Can you tell me?
Frakking Toasters chapter 30 . 11/29/2014
OMG! This could be the best story I've ever read. For REALZ! I have been riveted the whole way through, from the very first word to the very last, and holy cr p, you didn't ease off at all on this one. I did not see that ending coming. I mean, as if there weren't enough mega feel moments to contend with. And the ring had my heart in my throat even knowing that Abby would cover for him. But the girl is good. Better than good. I think she picked up a few things from Tony, because the whole ring thing totally distracted from what ultimately sealed the deal with the suspicious relative, and just... Let's just say I really love this special bond you've got going on between these two. Very spesh indeed!
And Tony's childhood...lawdy! But I wanted this story so much, where he opened up to Gibbs even if he had "reasons" at first. And Gibbs admitting what he'd done. Oh geez, I could write my own little story about my feels about this story. There so much!
I loved it all. ALL OF IT. Thank you. Absolutely awesome. xo
M. Louise E chapter 30 . 11/17/2014
Wow. Many twists and turns in this story. Nicely done. I enjoyed reading it very much. :D
Tragedy of Fenwick chapter 30 . 7/24/2014
Breaching Walls has been a fandom favorite of mine ever since you first published it all those years ago. I was so shocked by Tony's deviousness and simultaneously thrilled that he'd been (written .) manipulative enough to fool me with his act, too. This story was a great read the first time around, but it's even better the-gosh, it must be my third or fourth time reading it through, now. It all unfolds so effortlessly, but now I see how deliberate the small things are. I swear I find some new detail that enhances the story every time I return to it. I love love LOVE your careful writing and your respectful treatment of all my favorite characters. Hope you're doing well these days.
IsoldeAhlstrom chapter 30 . 6/22/2014
Oh, Abby, you are a treasure! I love you! D'you think Gibbs will ever find out?
IsoldeAhlstrom chapter 28 . 6/22/2014
OH, I hope so, Gibbs, I hope so. Tony deserves it.
IsoldeAhlstrom chapter 27 . 6/22/2014
Awwww. Tony is sooo lucky that he has a boss like Gibbs. He's just a little unlucky in the fact that Gibbs wasn't his actual father. I liked it, though I have to admit, I am a little disgruntled about Gibbs being a "functional mute." Ah well, doesn't mean he can't show him.
IsoldeAhlstrom chapter 26 . 6/22/2014
Well, you'll only have to wait and see, DiNozzo. I certainly can't tell what's going to happen next.
IsoldeAhlstrom chapter 25 . 6/22/2014
Poor Tony. Gibbs, take him to your home, cook him some good, hearty food, watch a couple (or more) movies with him, and when he tries to act normal, reassure him that he is not to blame, and you love him (you don't necessarily need to say that last one, but it may come to actually verbalizing that). Sorry, I have a habit of talking to fictional characters as if they can hear me and react accordingly. Nice chapter.
