I liked the staccato dialogue in this piece - particularly the stark "Yes," since that seemed fitting for a warrior.

I normally wouldn't go for the chess metaphor, but it works here because of the word 'deteriorating,' so good job using the cliche in a new way.

Not knowing canon, I was a bit confused re. zanpakuto at first, since two seconds' Google said that it was an enchanted sword - I'd move the 'sword-spirit' notation up earlier so a reader like me who doesn't know the fandom might be able to make sense of it more readily, rather than only towards the end.

good one shot that portrays them both in a intresting light like they feel an acceptence of their fate.

This tantalizes. The imagery - especially the last line - is evocative, and the characterization gives depth to characters we only know for a few hundred words. It makes me want to experience more of them.

Yeah. Like your other Bleach drabbles, this is a emotionally interesting picture. Have you ever thought of expanding the lens a little?

To be honest, there's not much I want to say for this one because there's not much for me to say at all. I could say that I like the interaction that clearly shows they're not necessarily HOSTILE (as in tearing each other's throats), but they're definitely not friends. I could say that I like how you kept what we've seen of their personalities and integrated it perfectly into the story.

But saying 'I like it' isn't enough, because this is one of those stories that makes me feel empty. It leaves a sense of hopelessness for a moment that gives you a sort of dirty feeling- the descriptions in this story are not overly elaborate or elongated, allowing the reader to get through to the heart of things easily. It's an unsettling story, but it works out well. This really is a nice companion fic :)
