Descendants' Eyes chapter 33 . 5/8 This is my second time reading! Still love it! |
zukofan2005 chapter 2 . 1/25 Hi I’ve read your Others stories several times, and reading this again for the first time in years I feel the exact same excitement I felt when I first read this story. I just want to thank you for writing these stories and for portraying these characters so realistically. I was a Bakura when I was younger (heck, I’m still kinda a Bakura) and reading this was the perfect escape from the real world and it still is for me now. Thank you for being an amazing writer and for coming up with an amazing story! |
Yoru no Katana chapter 1 . 6/2/2017 You keep telling me to hit the back button...and I will. 33 chapters, and I haven't studied for Statistics yet. The intro and already I know this will be a good story. Best leave this till after exams. |
MyEyesOnew chapter 33 . 10/17/2015 Have you considered making this a novel? The quality of the plot, setting, and characters are so worthy of getting published. Just saying. I really love your world-building. And your writing because it has the perfect pacing in all honesty. Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of work! |
Vladimir the Hamster chapter 22 . 4/9/2015 Interestingly I read this chapter right when "President" by IAMX was playing... |
Uryuu-Nipaa chapter 33 . 10/27/2014 Wow. That was so awesome. I especially love your magic system, but I also really like the different reincarnations of Bakura, and the general mythology of your universe, and the way you've tied everythign in with the original story. I seriously can't wait to read the rest of the story. One thing I did notice was that the Latin wasn't always correct. Would you maybe like me to see if I can correct it? |
Pischaw chapter 33 . 4/7/2014 Holy crap I can't believe I powered through this. I really like this story and how the ending was wrapped up. I like how all the characters specially the Normals developed and shown that even they can have a fucked up life too. And omg Tea was really such a mess before she had a heart to heart with Bakura. |
Pischaw chapter 19 . 4/7/2014 Aaaah I've been wanting to comment on this story since last night, but my mind just kept yelling at me to read the next chapter because I have school tomorrow and I really wanna know what's going on. Honestly this is a really amazing story. Really like how the whole reincarnation thing was set up and it's obvious that Atem tried to bring slaveBakura back to life. I hope that you flesh out Tea and the others more. Also I get the feeling that something bad really happened to Atem and it has to do with the war that Ryou was writing about. I've been wondering if Amane sold Atem out to the FBI because when you wrote that Siegfried was gonna be the president, alarm bells started blaring in my head. I'll go on and read the next chapter mow. Just wanted to drop this review to voice somethings that I think might happen. . |
Anonymous chapter 1 . 2/19/2013 (Continuation of previous review. For some reason it cut my review. I'm 'The Forgotten Outsider') ...are in a 'hate relationship' (If you know HomeStuck, you'll probably know what I mean. Basically a relationship driven by lust, obsession, and hatred instead of those...fluffy or pure feelings...), and you - you just decided to use it. Can I, can I love you for that? If I may ask, why do you decide to insert it here? Oh, by the way, I love that you managed to sneak in Cheershipping because I can see it happening somehow. The way that Shizuka/Serenity is blind and Otogi/Duke, who relied on his looks to make women fall for him, met her while in this condition, only allowed him to bond with her by using his voice. Dealing with a girl who couldn't see his looks must be a different situation for him. And FINALLY! Somebody else who doesn't use Touzoku or anything stupid to be Bakura's first or last name! It vexes me a bit...like the Amane thing, too mainstream...and rather than thinking of a surname for Bakura in AU FanFictions, I always think of a first name. People still call him Bakura, though, because in Japanese cultures unless a person is really close to one another it's considered impolite to be on first name basis. And of course, Bakura is one of those anti-social people, so when I give him a first name, I can normally refer to him as Bakura without referring much about his first name and get away with it! Hm...'Touzoku' and 'Thief King' will show later...yet a few more characters with connections with our protagonist...or are they connected to the voices inside Bakura's mind/soul room(?) I wonder? AAAH, SO MANY MINDF***S! Sorry, I'm just not really fond of mainstream things...like for example, in a Japanese setting, even if you name two people Malik and Mariku, it won't really make sense because 1.) The name Mariku doesn't really exist in Egypt, as far as I can tell and 2.) In a Japanese setting, those two names are pronounced the same way anyway. I prefer to name Yami no Malik Namu Ishtar in my alternate universe FanFictions anyway. Again with my headcanon, LOL. Gosh...I'm sorry for my rambling review! Most of them probably doesn't make any sense since I tend to ramble and REALLY overlook things no matter how weird it may get...If the answers to my question will be answered, don't spoil it for me! I'm going to continue reading anyway. Again, I feel envious of your writing, and two, you can bet I'll keep reviewing and read your stories! I can see why my friend had you in her favorites! Keep on writing, I already love this story too much even though I've just read the first chapter! Gah...so gripping... - The Forgotten Outsider |
The Forgotten Outsider chapter 1 . 2/19/2013 Hello! So, my friend had given this account to me and I was a bit curious why from all of the FanFictions that she has read over the years, only five FanFictions were in her favorite stories list, all of them by you and it seemed like all of them took place in the same alternate universe, considering the pattern in the title, and only you were present in her favorite authors list, so I thought I'll give this FanFiction a go! I was surprised that the intro, the prologue of some sort, alone, when Bakura had written that it's advised for us to turn back, managed to grip my whole curiosity and read this whole chapter. I'd like to comment about your writing first. The words are simple, lacking too much description, more or less straight to the point (because Bakura himself is a cut-through-the-chase person, which only added up to the effect that you could write a humane version of Bakura without making him stray out of character), which made the feel of the story easier to imagine. Your words were very simple, yet very effective, very realistic and human, and it seemed to focus more on the emotional aspects of the scenarios rather than the description, which was a very good aspect when it comes to writing in first person (and your need to make Bakura comment accordingly also adds it up!). I rather like those kind of writing style, and the fact that this takes place in an alternate universe filled with mystical aspects (would this be a fantasy alternate universe or a supernatural alternate universe, I wonder? I prefer the former, but better read to find out!) is definitely a bonus point. It's my all time favorite genre! You better believe that I'm hooked Okay, now onto my comment for the story! The introduction to all of the characters was pretty good! The stereotypes just fit with each of the character's personality trait so much. When you mentioned that the Amane in this story didn't suffer albinism like Ryō (either the canon one or the Ryō Bakura in this story, otherwise Yami no Bakura, though for Yami no Bakura's case I'm not so sure because he's using Ryō's body, and Thief King Bakura does have partial albinism, but...you get what I mean.) I was jumping for joy because finally, /finally/ an Amane in a story finally fit in with my headcanon. In my headcanon, I believe that in contrast to Ryō's albinism, Amane does not have any of his problems. It just sort of vexes me that too many people portray Amane as some sort of copy of Ryō, even though I acknowledge the fact that they're twins. It's just...too mainstream. I think of Amane as the more...'Male' I guess?...one of the siblings, or at least a bit similar to canon Anzu/Téa, nice but confident and isn't afraid to speak her mind, whereas Ryō is more mild mannered and polite. Again, I'm just glad that your Amane is close to my headcanon! And I just...I just love how you made Bakura's character to be. My words are not without reason, I assure you, because I can definitely state part of my reasoning. Because in this story, the Bakura you portray feels like one of us. The outcasts, the weirdos, the freaks, the /different/ ones. It's so frighteningly accurate to what us outcasts are like, it's so easy to relate to him, that I just can't help but...let me love you. Seriously. I can perfectly picture a humane version of Bakura like this. And I love that this just basically centers on our differences. We-Bakura are-is shunned just because we-Bakura are-is different. In the story, our 'differences' are dramatized into what I assume to be magic, which Bakura possesses. Seeing his traits, being able to commune with the dead and (in this chapter, unconsciously, confirmed by his fear and denial about it) giving solid form to spirits, if I recall correctly this leads to Bakura being a...necromancer, correct? I think that's what they call, if I remember correctly. This is, again, so fitting to his canon counterpart. And as far as I can remember, necromancy is one of the most controversial viewed magic due to its connection with the dead (thus people relate necromancy with foul things because they believe that they are disturbing the dead), so it definitely fits with canon Bakura's antagonistic role, but what makes it more interesting that you chose this magic for Bakura is aside from the controversial views of the magic, the one using it is rather going to be the /protagonist/ of the story. I quite like the contrasts in this story. He's a protagonist, but still retains some of his more...dark, should I say?...traits, shown when he used Amane's lies as an advantage to provoke fear in Jōnouchi/Joey and Honda/Tristan's hearts (I don't think he's a sadist, he just wants some form of revenge for all they've done to him, and when he made them fear him he was more or less a bit satisfied.). And when he realizes that it wasn't all in his mind and when it was real (okay, as any typical story filled with mystical aspects, and confirmed in this stories, there are two types of people, the ones that can't use magic [the ones you referred to as Normals?] and the ones that can, and obviously since this takes place in a more modern and realistic universe the 'Normals' are the dominant species. Since the Normals has no magic, and I'm assuming that they (or at least most of them, who aren't involved with these...okay, I'm going to call them mages for this chapter because of the lack of a more fitting title at the moment) have no knowledge about it or refuse to believe it, the mages (is this going to be one of those kind of mainstream things where one species used to be the dominant race or at least open to the world and because of one, life changing happening, they got into hiding and fewer of them seemed to exist?LOL) that are surrounded by them and has no knowledge of this are also convinced that magic doesn't exist, which leads them to being in denial when the big secret is revealed, or at least shocked.). All of those just shows that aside from people's-Bakura's differences, in the end of the day they're-he's still human, which only further enforces the realism of this story. Very impressive. Ooh, I sense something important about the odd question on the SAT (I had to laugh when Rebecca referred to it as 'the sitting test' and Bakura is just 'what the bloody hell' until realization dawned)! I'm beginning to suspect that this is influenced by J.K. Rowling! I mean..."You're a teenager with your whole life ahead of you, and you get chosen to learn something that your classmates wouldn't come up with in their wildest dreams." If that didn't give up the fact that Bakura's going to learn about magic then I don't know what will! Not that I blame you, J.K. Rowling is definitely a reliable inspiration for aspiring writers (though judging by your writing style, I wouldn't have suspected if you said you ARE an aspiring writer! I mean...your writing is definitely something that I have never come across before, very original. I envy you.)! Not completely influenced, I mean, this is America and takes place in a more advanced setting! I doubt that there will be a Diagon Alley or all those things, something a bit modern, a bit more influenced by the years that had aged the world. Though I have to ask, would they convince Bakura the same way (or at least in a similar way) to how Dumbledore convinced Tom? By showing solid proof? It's just...fitting, I guess? Oh, and is that some sort of thing that could only be seen by magic users? And the voices Bakura heard...I'm curious. Were those entities of some sort? Or spirits, something a bit similar to the darker halves in the original version, though not exactly a darker half. Either dead people or as I previously mentioned, entities (this is a world filled with magic, anything can happen!), I'll just keep on reading to know. If they're in Bakura's head (mind, whatever. or maybe soul room? Does that aspect exist in the story? Oh God, I'm asking too much questions just for the first chapter, aren't I? Sorry, I'm just not the type to let my curiosity linger.), then that means that they have a connection with Bakura! Are they important people? Because 1.)They might have a connection with Bakura because pffft...they live in his freaking mind/soul room(?) And 2.)People that are connected to Bakura, the main protagonist of the series, MUST be relevant to the plot. I just don't know how important. But you don't seem to be the type of person to leave a character feel neglected, so I think that all of the characters, whether good or evil, major or minor in the original, will play a very important role! It can't be a coincidence that he just happens to have voices in his head...unless it /is/ a coincidence...but after all, as Albert Einstein said,"Coincidence is just God's way of remaining anonymous"! And when one of those voices spoke and Bakura randomly (I suspect not-so-randomly) thought of the dessert...somehow reminded me of the original franchise. -Sigh- next thing you know some thing like reincarnation and previous lives like in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! will happen...I have the impression that anything can happen here, LOL! And through one way or another almost each aspect has connections with the original! Am I being a bit too comparative between your work and the original? Sorry! It's just...you can make connections with the original series and yet keep it a big subtle and vague while STILL retaining originality! It amazes me! And...and...can I hug you? Can I...just...hug you? Virtual hug? Please? Because your writing still is professional and this plot is just so original and the - and - the - and you decided to use DARKSHIPPING as the main pairing...which I might note is one of my all-time favorite pairing that I will ship until my dying day. I am internally screaming all words that expresses my joy because you /didn't/ use any of the popular pairings and used the pairing that, in the original version, could probably only be canon if the both of them |
Purple Dragon Of The Flames chapter 1 . 1/22/2013 This is really interesting. Can't wait to read the next one. |
K5Rakitan chapter 1 . 7/21/2012 This came highly recommended by a friend, and they were right! This is quite a gripping and exciting story right from the start. I wish I had more time to read it. Have you considered publishing anything? If you wrote this two years ago, I bet you could write an awesome novel now. |

Akefia Bakura chapter 4 . 3/10/2012 This story has no words to describe how amazing it is. It's just, wow. The plot caught my attention, and it kept making me want to read more of it. The chapter's length is just wow. It's really long, and I like that about a story. Your writing style is amazing as well, and so many words in your vocabulary really adds up. I love how descriptive it is,and you manage to describe the personality inside out very well, and you've done a good job making them stay that way. You are one talented writer, and the most talented one I've known in this site. And that's saying something. I don't mind about the shippings used, because this story is basically focused on my favorite genre of all time: Fantasy. How you describe each and everything in this whole fanfic is just unimaginable. A true piece of art!for as far as I'm concern, there's no flaw at all as far as I see it. Once I log in on my laptop,I will immediately put this on my favorite, and this story will gain the title 'Current Most Favorite' in my profile!thank you for blessing this site with such a fabulous fanfic. And I recognized the Line Noah said. The one that starts with,"resistance is futile". Infact,LittleKuribo is the one who made me to the Yu-Gi-Oh!fan I am now. The Fluffy part and human Furby is another YGO:TAS reference as far as I've known, from 'Marik's Evil Council of Doom',am I correct?well, keep on writing please.
