It's a good start~ You have simple, straightforward style that I like

Well-I did the stories in reverse order, but even so I enjoyed this one-shot quite a bit. The contrast you portrayed between Iruka's emotional tendancies and Kakashi's realist tendancies were quite clear. In addition, the Third's portrayal felt just right as he listened to Kakashi's report on Iruka's performance during the mission. And now that I've read this one-shot, with Kakashi's adamant conclusion to Hiruzen that Iruka should NEVER be assigned to another A-ranked mission, I can see an even clearer picture of just why he reacted the way he did to the team selection in Reynard.

I loved how you showed that one of Iruka's greatest character traits is also one of his greatest weaknesses. Very well presented and thought provoking. The dialogue and emotions were well suited to the characters. This story is an instant favorite for me. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, I can picture an exchange like this between these two. Considering what happened prior to the chuunin exams in the manga, your story becomes totally plausible.
